5+ pages of discussing buying gift vouchers. Yep this won't be ozbargained.
There are quite a number of different ways a booking can be made under this DSC offer, vouchers are only one. Vouchers don't suit all (for example, will only suit personal travel or those in SME's that control the travel policy for the company). Thankfully, that covers me...

I have read quite a number of posts from those than it doesn't suit...YMMV

Im thinking of booking a syd jfk trip in J. But cant find good dates in Sept with good prices and dont want to go via sfo or dfw.

Thinking doing a run to chc but don't know. Its still early though few more days to think.

My favourite domestic runs are MEL-SYD-OOL and MEL-BNE-CNS. I'd like to see NZ so booking a trip e.g. MEL-SYD-WLG would be a possibility. Work trips would take me to the States and a big holiday would probably take me to LHR if I were to book that.

I may end up mostly sitting this offer out and making good use of next year's one (if there is one).

Of course; for flights later in the year that you can't book now (because you don't know the dates), you will still avoid the CC fee, and MAY get the promo as well.:);)

Best way to look at it...no downside at all if you're sure you'll be flying QF at some point before the voucher expires.

I am sure QF are happy to accept a rise in cash flow regardless of how it comes in...bookings or vouchers (also bookings in the end)

The fact that this is restricted to QF flights only makes this offer less attractive this time. That's not a complaint - it's a valid business decision from QF - just a statement of the value to me.

I'm also not chasing status. I'm LTG and will likely be WP for the foreseeable future. P1 will happen or it won't. Doesn't worry me any more.

But I will probably make a few $50 advance purchases for domestic or trans-Tasman travel. Low risk strategy for me as I do fly QF here mainly and will most likely need to use them, even if for Y travel. Credit card savings make up for the upfront purchase. DSCs a bonus if they come.

Vouchers in general have to be a win-win for a company. xx per cent would never be redeemed so free money (pax forgets, falls ill or other change in circumstances). This is why I wouldn't see any value in QF shutting down the application of DSCs to vouchers.

Ok then, now I'm posting this purely as a description of my communication with the P1 SST. I'm not taking responsibility for anybody's interpretation of it or their subsequent bookings, or lack thereof, under this promotion.

The SST contacted the Frequent Flyer Service Centre and has advised that the DSC promotion requires that a flight booking (including vouchers) is to be confirmed AND TICKETED during the promotional period of 1st February to 5th February.

You may take this as you will and remember..... don't shoot the messenger.

If another P1 wants to query this themselves then by all means go ahead.

Half the time QF's system itself isn't even able to ticket bookings within that tight timeframe. History suggests the DSC are awarded based on PNR creation, and I don't believe it will be any different this time. There is certainly nothing within the T&C which indicate this to be the case. Indeed, many premium cabin fares have TTLs of up to 60 days after booking.

"If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply."

My interpretation of the clause regarding flight changes is that ONLY PNR creation date determines the awarding of DSC. This particular clause suggests that changes to the booking are allowed, and only in cases where a segment has been moved outside of the "Fly by..." period would it become ineligible. Reading between the lines, this has to mean PNR is the sole measure of eligibility, as once a voluntary date change is made a ticket has to be re-issued/re-validated and that would actually cause the whole booking to become ineligible.

Just my intepretation, but I am pretty confident.

Has anyone received an email confirmation after signing up?
I haven't registered yet but I now always take a screenshot of the confirmation page. There was no email confirmation for the last one I got (March 17).

Absolutely, I just wanted to share and am quietly confident myself. Veering OT now but I remember many moons ago when I was CX Diamond I enquired with QF to confirm that would grant access to MEL F before a JetConnect flight to AKL. The response was: "No, because JetConnect is not oneworld." Obviously I presented anyway and enjoyed the odd glass of Champagne once inside.

The FF Service Centre are generally pretty useless IME.

Considering the infrastructure of Qantas's booking systems and the issues it's had in the past, this would be an enormous piece of work for their engineering teams to manage for very little pay off (how much money would they be saving/vs. the engineering costs and delays on other projects).

I seriously doubt they'd be able to make that sort of change in a short space of time or even want to.

Yes, as well as a confirmation on the QF site.
Having said that, I registered MrP and he didn’t get one.
Edit:
I signed him up again and it’s just come through now.
