Double Status Credits to HKG

was that 180,000 points?? 18k seems a bit cheap!

I was going to do this in an other thread (might still), but here goes:

Total points was 167,000 or 120,000 and $540.

I earn 23,491 FF points, which doubles to 46,982
The 520 status credit I earn will push me over 2,400 for the year, which gets me another 50,000 FF points.
I will also get a 5,000 loyalty bonus.

So nett cost is 120,000 - 46,982 - 50,000 - 5,000 = 18,018 :)

To make it even sweeter, on just about any other day between now and christmas, those seats cost close to 500,000 points each way :D

The only downside to the whole thing is that I can't seem to get upper deck on the 747 on the way home (coming back via Sydney) :(

520 SCs (potentially 560 if the domestic connection flight also gets double) for a cost of 18,000 FF points and $540 :)
Crazy cheap.

I wish it was possible for me to get my membership year to be brought forward. May 31 rollover is most inconvenient. :)

So good. Well done. :)

Mine is 30 Nov, I would have preferred for them to credit to next year, but I'll survive (and enjoy the extra 50K points from hitting 2,400 SCs).

awesome effort there though!! I was tempted to do the same - still might though..

Indeed it is.

I think I just booked the SC run of a lifetime. 520 SCs (potentially 560 if the domestic connection flight also gets double) for a cost of 18,000 FF points and $540 :)

Heading out next Thursday at 11pm, arrive 6am Friday, head into town for lunch then back to check out the new lounge before a 8pm departure and arrive back into Brisbane 10am Saturday morning :)

Carumba! That's some Status Run!

I could have gone before 24th December 2011 too and got the double points (as my earlier screen shot shows), but I decided to go after 1st March 2012, because my membership year starts then. The 600 SCs will help a lot in retaining my Platinum status for 2012-2013. :)

Cost for me was $577.35 + 86,128 points (nett). :D

I've been hording points to take the family to HKG next year, looks as though we are going to have to make the trip before 17 May. Those double SCs will go nicely towards next years total as well :)

- The offer covers eligible flights between Australia and Hong Kong – that is both directions

Hi Red Roo,

Could you please confirm if this extends to the domestic position portion of a flight, if it is all booked in one go through the QF booking engine. Note in particular I am talking about searching for BNE-HKG and being given the option of a BNE-SYD-HKG flight, as opposed to using multi-city booking engine to get a similar routing?

It might seem like a silly question, but I've got a good reason for wanting to know ;)

Double SC offer wording question

I've recently received the offer below of double SCs from QF.

How do people read this part: "... between Australia and Hong Kong..." - as only the Aus to HKG sector or both ways . I initially thought both ways but then the ambiguity kicked in and now I'm not sure. (Although it doesn't say FROM Australia TO Hong Kong).

The delights of the English language .

Thanks folks. Sorry I missed finding the earlier thread that clarified it .

Answer was obviously what I was hoping for, confirmed my initial interpretation and the SCs I'd entered into my planning spreadsheet. I just puzzled on it a little after that but I knew I'd get a prompt answer here :D.

Any idea if this includes a trip all the way through to London? I.e. I'm on QF30 back all the way back from London in mid-February, am I eligible for the bonus? (I fear not...)

No, it is only flights between Australia and Hong Kong. So you'd get double SCs on the leg from HKG to Oz, but normals SCs from LHR to HKG.

Funny that this thread has come up, off for my second HKG status run tomorrow ;)

Except if it is booked as QF30 LHR-SYD, I doubt there will be any double status at all. As it should credited as LHR-SYD.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

Good point, if it's the same flight number the whole way then you are probably correct!

note to nlhalle's examples - only double SCs, not double points
no double (as expected) for PVG-SYD.

Pushed me over the 13k SC level (at least it will once my three missing CX/KA flights post) - on the homeward stretch.
Have one FASA booked and planning a DAS.

I like the look of that double entry - mine's coming up in Feb and looking forward to seeing on my activity both PER-HKG & HKG-PER doubled :D.
