Double Status Credits to HKG

Amazing. How does that work? Is it an artefact of the booking system that treats a series of DOM sectors prior to or after an INT sector as part of the INT itinerary?

But how come simonsyd missed out?

Great if you need lots of SCs to jump to a higher level (as MAD has figured for her quest to go WP from SG).

Wow guys, that's brilliant! :D

That's it.. I'm going next weekend guys. Who's with me? We'll pop up there and spend a weekend eating yum cha and doing karaoke, and come back status enriched, and in my case, with several handbags...

I'm already locked in to go direct from PER on 20 Feb., back 23 Feb.

As mentioned, didn't need to go the long way. The 480 SC PER-HKG-PER will do me nicely this year .

Still like to know the basis of why it works that way, though .

I specifically pointed out when the promo was launched that the "flights between Oz and HKG" could be interpreted two ways.

So I rang the QFF number and asked for clarification. I was told that connecting domestic flights booked as part of the same booking also qualified for the double SCs. And hence the idea of my 2 JASAs and 1 FASA to HKG was born. Just a pity that I only got double FF points to go with the double SCs on the JASAs and not the FASA :p

I think my other half would love a dummy run before we head off in March.
It seems like you would be the perfect companion to show her all the shopping ins and outs of HKG:oops:

Hi Red Roo,

Could you please confirm if this extends to the domestic position portion of a flight, if it is all booked in one go through the QF booking engine. Note in particular I am talking about searching for BNE-HKG and being given the option of a BNE-SYD-HKG flight, as opposed to using multi-city booking engine to get a similar routing?

It might seem like a silly question, but I've got a good reason for wanting to know ;)

Trawling back, I see this post asking Red Roo to confirm the double SCs on DOM sectors but no reply was posted.

It still amazes me - surely there must have been some limit to how many DOM sectors could be stitched in either side of HKG ? But still strange that haydensyd missed out .

Like you said, the status run of a lifetime .

Only a hunch :p, but I rather fear your other half could be led very, very badly astray  and likely to return a very different person .

Really quite annoyed to have missed out on this due to the bizarre targeting once more - would have guaranteed requal by now and coaxed a number of paid flights and ASAs out of me. As it is, I directed our HKG runs mostly (indirectly) to VA and CX instead.

Would certainly have traded two bottles of wine for this!

At least you got your two bottles of wine :(

Don't forget, this offer (double SCs) wasn't a result of the shutdown, it was to celebrate the introduction of the A380 onto the HKG route.

And the intro by CX of new J

I'd be more worried for my Credit card more than anything!

JohnM, I'm surprised! *feigning shock*
Mannej, I promise your wife would return from a weekend with me untarnished.. but maybe a little varnished. A massage, mani and pedi are a must do on girls weekends. They do such a great job in Hong Kong, too! In fact, I ran up quite the bill at the Victorian Spa at Disneyland Hotel when the strike was on.. :p

Anyway, I'm booked. It is going to happen! I'm worth it.

Then why was it targeted? We all want to celebrate that! :(

I will contact QFF about this - as I said earlier I had SYD - BNE - HKG and SYD - PER - HKG both on JASA's where I was awarded double SCs for the International sector only. It would not have made a difference to status as I did not need the domestic SC's to requalify WP, however had I been awarded them I would have got a further loyalty bonus before my review date (Jan31st).
If the domestic sectors do earn double I can see a couple more HKG trips before May!

Thank you Qantas.
Jan. Paid J (on a SYD-HKG-PVG-SYD ticket)
Feb. FASA (SYD-HKG to connect to a CX flight TPE-HKG-CTS)
Feb. Paid J CircPac (HKG-SYD coming home from above)

Bonus SCs : 420...
Takes me to within 120 SCs of LTG, which somewhat ironically will probably be brought up on a CX SYD-HKG-TPE ticket (first portion already used)

Thence the question becomes do I actually start directing flights to my AA account - only bonus points for the last six years!
