Firstly, how can you combine vouchers for a booking ?

Secondly, wanting to use up the last of my vouchers!

However, the Business SALE fares don't show when going to redeem the vouchers

Only Business SAVER and Business FLEX

Any ideas to get around this to obtain the cheaper fare using a voucher ?

Firstly, how can you combine vouchers for a booking ?

A couple of mine were involuntarily combined by an agent early on when there were difficulties with the re-issue of the new voucher with the remaining value. (These issues are long gone). I don't know whether it is worth asking or convincing someone to achieve that. It may come down to pot-luck who you get and how willing they are to help.

All mine finally used up, though some are still outstanding flights yet to be taken, and I'm wondering what will happen with regard to the expiry date for bookings I may need to cancel. I've had to do this a few times in the last few months, and it is unclear what expiry date is valid: when I cancel, it shows a message saying "this voucher will expire [12 months from this cancellation date]", but when I go to redeem the voucher again, it still shows 12 months from the original voucher creation date (last December) as the expiry date. I'm hoping that I don't have to get into a situation where I have to argue about which date is applicable.

A voucher has a PNR ... I doubt a ticket number is issued until the voucher is "redeemed".

By default a ticket can only be re-issued up to 12 months from the date of original issue.

Domestically, any re-issue must have all travel completed within 12 month from the date of original issue.

Internationally, any re-issue must have all travel completed within 12 month from the date of re-issue.

I won't touch these in the future.

Not worth the hassle of timing & splitting & combining vouchers.

There are other ways to earn free points - much less painful.

My 2c !

Care to tell me where else you can earn 10 extra Qantas FF points per $ on airline tickets.....

And my experience was very different. I purchased smaller denomination vouchers, $50 and $100 which meant I didn't have to worry about getting vouchers reissued because I had used the total value in one transaction.

Of course saving credit card fees of $7.70 (domestic) and $30 (international) really makes these worthwhile.

Sure, that might be what is listed in the background, but I've got an email from Qantas with the re-issued Voucher (after I've had to cancel the flight), and that email lists a date multiple times which is 12 months from when I cancelled the flight. It's only when I've got to re-book the flight that I notice it lists the original voucher expiry date. As I say, I haven't had to deal with this yet, though I don't think it would be a pretty conversation if I had to.

Same here, I was initially happy to find that the expiry date had been "extended" but then saw the original date under My Bookings. The terms and conditions state that "a new voucher with the same expiry date will be issued for the unused portion of that voucher":

Here's my 770¢!

Yesterday I saw a sale for BNE/MEL flight on QF with availability for flights I wanted next year. The sale $119 each way fares were $60 cheaper than current 'normal' rate of $179.

First thing I did was purchase a $50 gift voucher, earning 125 QFF points (Earth).

I then went and had a cup of coffee.

By the time I returned I had received the confirmation email and I was able to apply the voucher to the $238 return fare, spending another $188 and earning another 470 QFF points.

All done in 20 minutes with seating selected.

So I spent $238 and earned 595 QFF points. Now I could have spent $245.70 ($238 + $7.70) and earned 614¼ QFF points but I am happy with the outcome. :D

I've always read that phrase in the context of the new voucher with the remaining value of the voucher after you've used it to book a flight... well, what it says "unused portion of that voucher", when you are booking the flight. I'm talking about when I've got to cancel a flight that I just happened to book with a voucher (either original or "new" voucher generated from the unused portion of an original voucher).

My mistake was that I bought $500 vouchers for 2x names ($1,000 each) x3

Nothing but headache !

$50-100 voucher will work, I'm sure.

Thankfully, I used my 2 x $500 and 1 x $250 vouchers last week for BNE/PER, PER/BNE and ADL/BNE Flexi fares (so each were priced over the voucher value).

Thanks to serfty, I had utilised the BA MMB service to add my QFF number so they showed up on my QFF bookings page).

Hoping they show up again this year

I had the same issue when trying to book a business sale fare to AKL. Serfty (IIRC) advised me to call up and book, which I did. The CSA was surprised that the sale fares weren't available using a voucher, but should have been. Booking done. No call up fee charged.

Saw this pop up and thought Christmas had come early... must remember to have plenty of cash on hand for all the bonus points this year! :p

Have done the same as serfty recently to avoid the CC fee.

I agree

Actually 12.5 points at the time if you used a qantas Amex Ultimate card.
I bought a $ 1,000 voucher and had no trouble using it
= 12.5 points in total plus the points and SC's on the tickets themselves
I thought it was a good deal but can understand the issues if it was not being used in the one transaction

My 2c + few cents extra!

From memory I purchased $5,000 vouchers in $500 denominations which was good for 50,000 QFF points at the time. I have used these for multiple bookings. Travel booked through to end March 2014 and still have ~$1,200 unused.

Received a 50% SCs bonus offer. May book some flights I am missing in January and then book some flights going nowhere between now and January for bonus SCs. It would be good to get to Partner Gold again for another 50,000 QFF points.

I would do it all again if offered in December but may not purchase as much as last time. Either way though these vouchers are a good way to save the $7.70 booking fee.

Thanks - 2 Quick phone calls and the flight was booked for me! QF WP customer service on the phone is constantly amazing!

Sorry for the bump :) haha

Indeed, 12 points here so I can't complain! Which is about a 50% ROI :) (I value QFF points at about 4cents each)
