Well this is new!

2 of the booking I made last night, which had left-over amounts on vouchers now appear under MY BOOKINGS as a Voucher

You then click on the Voucher and can see what is remaining!

This is great

Glad you're happy with the changes. :)

Red Roo,

Nice to see that Qantas is doing the right thing by their customers. This is a long overdue dare I say "enhancement"

That word has long been corrupted by Qantas - improvement may be more definitive :p

Nah. What you are seeing is a glitch.

Real "enhancements" to follow....

Anyone know the difference between a Customer Care Vouchers and Gift voucher?

I have a two vouchers with $2 left on them (purchased via this promotion so I am assuming are gift vouchers) - which I have just had to argue with 3 different people that the terms and conditions state $2 or MORE - so as they have $2 left then 2 new voucher numbers should issue. Now most people would say its just $2 but as most AFF know I am trying to avoid a payment fee. Finally Phil in reservations stated I was entitled to the new vouchers and will organise but not really holding my breath.[h=3].Qantas Customer Care Vouchers - additional terms[/h]
  • If the full balance of the voucher is not redeemed in one transaction and the balance of the voucher is $2 or more, a new voucher with the same expiry date will be issued for the unused portion. Subsequent vouchers will be sent to the email address supplied. No subsequent voucher will be issued for amounts less than $2.
  • Only one person can be booked at a time.
  • Vouchers can be redeemed online at qantas.com/yourbooking or through Qantas Contact Centres on 13 13 13. A booking fee applies to redemptions through Qantas Contact Centres.

  • Vouchers will be valid for 12 months from date of issue.
  • If the full balance of the voucher is not redeemed in one transaction, a new voucher with the same expiry date will be issued for the unused portion of that voucher. Subsequent vouchers will be sent to the email address supplied for the first adult listed on the voucher. If no email address is supplied for the first adult listed on the voucher, subsequent vouchers will be sent to the email address of the person who purchased the voucher.
  • The number of people on a booking redeeming the voucher must be equal to the number of voucher recipients. The number of recipients listed cannot be changed.

If they were purchased in the promo via the gift voucher section then they are gift vouchers. That means the $2 bit is irrelevant.

I've only ever known customer care voucher to be the paper things, so not electronic. That require a phone call, and posting the paper voucher in, to be redeemed with remaining value being put onto another paper voucher.

Sorry to hear about the confusion. I'd be happy to follow up if you don't hear from Phil soon.

Thanks Red Roo - I was saving you for when I get really annoyed and frustrated........will give Phil a few days and see what happens.

Medhead - I wasn't even going to worry about the 4 x $1 ones however if I have to go via Red Roo I will then chase the lot.

Will let you know what happens.

I get all the good jobs!

Jokes aside, I'm always happy to help where I can. :)

Following up on this, staff on the premium desk are still insisting on charging a 'booking fee' and or 'change fee' on a residual value voucher. The same voucher didn't work online.

After being advised the voucher is a booking and that it needs to be 'changed' to book a flight, I argued with the operator and finally had the charges waived, but that's not the point.

This brings me to a more important point: if you can't book or change online, there is no way you should be able to charge a service fee when the customer has no option.

No, purchased two this morning, they arrived within minutes and have since spent them on the domestic summer sale.
I have a $50 gift voucher expiring 14 August 2013 and trying to book a flight for 20 December and it keeps coming up with error "temporarily unavailable try again".

It should not be this difficult.

Agree, my experience this morning is how it should be: buy on line and get the number, a few minutes later get the actual voucher emailed to me and then spend it. Both spent within 30 minutes.

It must be just me.

Called them yesterday morning and apparently voucher had expired on 22 July 2013 even though the expiry is 14 August 2013. She did something behind the scenes so I booked a flight for 20 December 2013.

The booking is showing in my bookings but I cannot view it and I am still waiting for the itinerary to be sent.

Why is it so difficult?

Nope, I've had issues with every voucher I've used. It's a PITA.
Sad thing is, I'll still load up on them at Christmas if they offer 10 points per dollar.

I've only had issues with the reissued vouchers when I haven't used up the full value of the original voucher. No issues when I use up the full value of the voucher in one go. (Yes kinda obvious, I know)

This sounds the same for me: when I use a voucher which was the originally-purchased full-value voucher, I can book a flight and then use MMB straight away. For the re-issued vouchers with the remaining value, I can book a flight, but when I go to Manage My Booking, it tells me it is still a voucher, so I have to ring up and ask them to remove the "elements" which make it look like a voucher still.

I would more than likely buy more vouchers as well if there is another promotion and I am still commuting. It wont be many vouchers though as it looks like flights will be booked through to June 2014 with current vouchers.
