One of our family members got the choose your offer option. It was $10 off or 500 points for spending $80. I chose the $10 off option and now I have to figure out whether to take up the offer. We very rarely take up $80 offers but this one might just tempt us. There are currently three active offers on this account. The first is the $5 off for spending $30. The second one is 20% off meat with no minimum spend. The third is the choose your offer. Provided the flat discounts kick in first and then the meat discount, I could get $80 worth of groceries, including a roast lamb and some chops for under $60.
If I understand the system correctly, the set discounts would take the transaction down to $65 and then 20% would come off the remaining value of the meat products in the transaction. If the meat discount comes off first then I won't get the $10 off, only the $5 off, but the meat discount would be higher taken off the $80 value than taken off the $65 value. It still wouldn't add up to as high a discount however. I wonder whether any of the staff in EDR customer service will know exactly how the discounts will work when stacked together. They are all triggered on swiping the EDR card, there are no coupons involved so the trigger will be instant for all the discounts.
It's really tempting to take this offer up. I very rarely take up the $80 target offers but with so many offers to stack it might just be worth it.
