EDR Targeted Bonus Point Promotions

My father received a 100 bonus points offer for $30 spend over the course of the week and not just in one transaction.

I did a bad deed a purchased the WOW Homebrand White Bread for ~$2.
Why a bad deed? I refuse to buy "designer" bread and stick to Woolworths Homebrand sliced bread for $1 a loaf. It goes in the fridge and it is still OK after 2 weeks.

I've tried to stay away from the Woolies 'select' brands in general.
There are more and more 'Select' brands creeping onto the shelves - and in the 'premium' section (i.e., eye level). I would say that if the watchdog doesn't put it's foot down soon, it will be 70%+ Select brands in a few years time and we won't have a choice of brands. You only have to look as far as the UK to see what has happened over there, is happening here. l think that Coles (Wesfarmers), has a ex-Tesco director working for them.

I actually had some WW Select crisps that were a take off of a brand that's been around a while. They actually tasted better. I will buy them in the future and save. It's sad but it's true.

I do not mind Woolworths Select brands. Tuna for one is quite OK and much cheaper than "designer" Tuna.

I have also tried 4 bean mix and while not as good as Edgell it still ok for the price paid.

Just because one pays through the nose for food does not mean it is better or even better quality....

My local Coles store manager was head hunted from a Tesco's, including all moving costs. He says he is not alone. There is something afoot...

Sent from my iThing.
Why, because iCan.

Ditto, only in my case it is the WW Select version of the "Grainwave" chips. Much better than the original brand.

I received the buy 2+ Select brand items for bonus points offer this week and I am going to be stacking up on my favourite grain chips.

M iPhone is playing up, so had to wait to post on my laptop from home tonight, after a riveting Professional Developmnt (Day 1 of 2). An interesting set of offers for the family:

Me - 250 bonus point when I spend more than $50 on my next order through Woolworths Online this week
Me - 70% off big brands and an extra 10% (when I place an order thrugh Door Buster)
Mrs - When you buy 2 or more Woolies Select products (2 for 50 points, 3 for 100 and 4 for 200)
mini #1 - missed out this week
mini #2 - 500 points when you spend $30 or more at one of our partner stores

So an easy 950 points on our way now that I have registered them. Now to go and research the 4 cheapest Select brand items

I also received similar offer, $30 over the course of the week for 250pts (Big W)

(Glad I didn't take up last weeks Big W offer, $30 for 100pts :D)

I think the government has to split Coles and Woolworths into 2 separate entities as both are hurting farmers and food manufacturers.

This is getting slightly OT, so maybe should spawn a new thread?

There are some private label (SELECT, Home Brand, etc) products which I buy on a regular basis as I think they are good. For others I am happy to pay more for a 'better' product.

Many private label items (especially under the SELECT label) are actually manufactured by so-called 'designer' brands under contract for Woolworths. This arrangement works well for both parties, as the 'designer' brand is never linked to the private label product, and the supermarket gets a quality product at a competitive price, then does their own 'marketing'.

Beyond urban mythology, there are actually a [very small] handful of products which are essentially 'the same', e.g. they are made in the same factory, sometimes even on the same production line. Several other private label products are withdrawn 'branded' product lines (e.g. A congolmorate brand withdraws from an underperforming product line, and the same product line is re-configured, and appears as a private lable product).

As for bread, there is a local bakery near me in Melbourne which sells a beautiful loaf of sourdough for the rather princely sum of $5.20 AUD... Is it 5 times better than the Wollies/Coles bread? ... That is in the eye of the beholder, but it is very nice bread.

The RACQ issue I raised with RACQ and they said they would look into - I sent an email to woolies and got this response - so it should be back at some stage but only to RACQ member

I am writing in response to correspondence you submitted via the
Woolworths Everyday Gift Cards website dated 21st March 2012 in regards
to the purchase of discounted Gift Cards as an RACQ member.
Unfortunately the current offer has been removed pending finalisation of
a new dedicated website where the offer will only be available to RACQ
members.
Woolworths continues to work with RACQ to reinstate the offer as quickly
as possible, and once back up and running, members will be advised how
to order via the RACQ website.
Woolworths apologises for the inconvenience this may have caused and
look forward to being able to bring this offer again to you in the near
future.

shintaro10x, I missed it as well. Sometimes discretion is the better side of valour? Maybe a PM is a more appropriate medium?

Generally my post was thanking deejo77 for the update and would be happy to to here more in regard to the outcome via a PM, there may have also been a suggestion that others that were interested "could" like my post and these could also be updated of the outcome via a PM...

I deleted / removed the post for two reasons: -
  • Requesting info on a public thread with the goal of trying to take advantage of an offer in which I was not entitled too or that was not targeted to me.
  • Giving the OP the impression that he / she had to provide further details and hence be an accessory to the first point above.

Now if someone was to make this information available then yes there would be a few in here grateful like myself, however any future discussion needs to be in the form of a private forum.

Done my research.

The cheapest items are individual sachet cat food @ $0.81 each (plenty of options under each) and Dog Food @ $0.85. At least I have dogs that might like something to top off their dry buscuits.

425g tins of fruit (Fruit Salad) and Orange Creams biscuits @ $0.99

Looks like a couple of tins of dog food, fruit and some biscuits might be my shopping list this week.
