Re: EK upgrade love

Just a data point from back in Oct. Flew EK406 MEL-AKL in J (but it was on one of those sale fares) QF flight #. I checked in with EK, but used QF F lounge. No upgrade. no biggie. Maybe if I'd visited the EK lounge.... but then again I already had EK BP stock :p

Re: EK upgrade love

Flew BRU-DXB-BKK-SYD QF codeshare on EK last October. Was upgraded from J to F on both DXB-BKK (A380) and BKK-SYD(777). Since the alliance I have tried to do as many QF flights on EK metal as possible. Altogether a much better J experience, especially on the A380.:)

Re: EK upgrade love

Decade of flying QF, 2 years as SG and last 3 years as WP, 0 op-ups. First ever flight with Emirates (currently WP) (QF coded) SYD-DXB, Y to J op up. I love Emirates.

Re: EK upgrade love

No upgrades yet, but as a mere SG I am surprised at the superb service and treatment. Only time had an opup was 10 years ago with US Airways after volounteering to fly later on an overbooked flight. I can't imagine it happening anytime soon.

Re: EK upgrade love

This is EXACTLY what the QF-EK "joint"-venture was about; opening up AUS skies to EK and pouching (elite) QF flyers and pushing them to EK. How on earth QF thought this "partnership" was a good idea is beyond me.

Two days ago, all three of us upgraded from Y to J from SYD to AKL. Very pleasant surprise at check-in. Thanks for sharing the upgrade "love" EK

Recently flew Perth-Dubai and whilst utilising the Emirates Lounge as a QF Gold was requested to go to reception where I was upgraded because of my "loyalty to Qantas". A very pleasant surprise.

Came back to earth on the return journey and will always in future be mentally focussed on being seated where I have paid.

One for MrP today from J to F. He's gold but almost platinum. Bangkok to Sydney.

And at the boarding gate I was upgraded from J to F too!

Love Emirates. That's three out of four for us!

Got upgraded yesterday on EK404 DXB-SIN. Was sold as QF8404. QF WP. Second time I've been upgraded to F on EK (out of 5). Note that both times were at the start of January during peak season. I have always booked on QF codes.

I am zero from 4. Two on Qantas codes, two on Emirates codes. All four were in Business with no upgrade to First, all accross the ditch. I am also Platinum.

I have never flown across the ditch on EK, but I presume as a tag flight they are rarely oversold, hence little chance of any op-up (just speculating here of course).

Has anyone has luck flying in and out of Perth? Flying J to Dublin and return in March but light loads in all classes/flights.

Myself 0-2 out of PER to DXB (qf wp1) but that was when the partnership started. Looking forward to giving it another go out of PER in may!

I doubt its necessarily an opup thing, but rather a "we have plenty of room and only a few people in the cabin, lets offer them something that might ensure they tell people/book EK metal in future - I have heard of plenty of op-ups on AKL legs, in particular, a friend (WP) traveling with 3x NB/NS were all upgraded both ways BNE-AKL Y -> J last year.

That's cool. Overtime I've been upgraded, it's been on a full flight.

Based on what's been reported here, I think your theory is plausible, and indeed working :-) I am not sure why Qantas does not reciprocate the love towards Skywards members. Are maybe they do?

*Edit: I meant "every time" not "overtime".

QF doesn't give any love to it's own members, Skywards members can get ******* ;)
