Has anyone has luck flying in and out of Perth? Flying J to Dublin and return in March but light loads in all classes/flights.

I have been upgraded Y->J DBX-PER on a QF coded flight as overbooked in Y. I am 1 from 4. With EK. Interestingly 0 from unsure how many flights (29000 LTSC) on QF.

Finally...some EK love. Today, checked in at the EK lounge in AKL and was handed my boarding pass and told "you have been given a complimentary upgrade Mr. Crum. Y to J (20A). Makes me about 1 from 10 now.

Double win being near the bar

Having been upgraded from Y to J in July on two legs and J to F this week I'm now totally spoiled. Maybe that's part of their plan and I'm truly suckered. :(

Also, while waiting to board at the gate they called about 20 names saying they had been re-allocated boarding passes; not sure if they were op-ups

I have never flown across the ditch on EK, but I presume as a tag flight they are rarely oversold, hence little chance of any op-up (just speculating here of course).

EK have 5th freedom rights on the Tasman - so market and sell the cough out of their flights on the Tasman.

They tend to be full more often than not. I have only got one upgrade and fly the Tasman 4-8 return flights a year all on EK434/435

Mel akl mel is rarely full on ek other than peak holidays or sporting events.

BITRE stats for September for ek to nz. 62/65% inbound/outbound. Compared to 88/79 to Dubai

Trying out the EK Alliance today and have to say for this WP it's a fail so far. Two members of my family were moved from pre-assigned seats in row 43 to row 87
Really annoyed with myself that I didn't notice it at check-in. Went to the EK Lounge and they promised to look into it. Called them up again from the QF Lounge and they are now in row 46. Why on earth would EK do this ??
If this was a flight to DXB I'd be really angry.

Usually the move folk to average seats prior to upgrading them

I wish that was happening here but I don't think so. It's pretty poor form really. Bulkhead row to non-bulkhead row and both pax are QF PS. The booking was also made for 6 pax together.

No luck here as a QF WP over 5 segments, MUC-DXB, BNE-DXB-MUC, PRG-DXB-SIN all booked on the QF codeshare.

Our upgrades have usually been as we proceed to board.

Love on 2/4 flights over December/January (Y-J SYD-DXB in Dec and Y-F DXB-SIN in Jan) on EK (QF flight numbers). New boarding passes at the gate. Beautiful

Not good.

I know it doesn't help but it can happen on any airline. Hopefully you'll be able to find out what went wrong.
