Re: EK521 Crash landing in DXB

some reports state a failed go around, others a tail first landing but all this is speculation. Lets hope that there is a proper investigation and the real cause(s) identified and lessons learned. Good that the cabin crew got all pax off but are there really no injuries?

Re: EK521 Crash landing in DXB

Being reported on Al Jazeera television that a fire fighter has died whilst attending this incident.

I saw an article that said a FA went to hospital with minor injuries. But yes, great to hear the evacuation went well overall.

Re: Emirates 777 fire at DXB

AVHerald:

"An Emirates Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration A6-EMW performing flight EK-521 from Thiruvananthapuram (India) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), landed on Dubai's runway 12L but suffered the collapse of the landing gear and burst into flames. The aircraft burned down completely."

Gulf News early reports that all pax evacuated

Here is that report

Accident: Emirates B773 at Dubai on Aug 3rd 2016, touched down during go-around without gear, aircraft on fire

Re: Emirates 777 fire at DXB

Is there a minimum altitude at which the gear is retracted during a go around, or is it as soon as the crew believe they have positive climb?

Re: Emirates 777 fire at DXB

Only just heard about this now.
It could have ended very badly.
So sad to hear about the fire fighter.

Re: Emirates plane crash-lands at Dubai airport

Pleased to see all pax and crew got out safely however sad to see that one person was killed in the execution of his employment.

We have all watched the TV programs on crew training and how they must be able to evacuate an aircraft in 90 seconds. This shows that it works

Re: Emirates 777 fire at DXB

Very sad to hear of the death of the fire fighter.
Amazing that so many walked away from this and very few injuries, with even them being minor.

It still frustrates when viewing video to see people reaching for and taking hand luggage with them.

Re: Emirates 777 fire at DXB

Can't believe people grabbing their carry on baggage ...

Will this appear on the reality show Dubai airport?

Re: EK521 Crash landing in DXB

unbloodybelievable! I'd be out of it as soon as I could, stuff the bags!

Believable to me. It appears to happen every time there is an evacuation. It seems to be human nature to grab what you think are valuable possessions even when you may be about to die! There is no point in blaming the passengers. Unfortunately, the people who follow the rules get caught up in the delays as others grab their bags. It did not result in deaths this time thankfully. Airlines need to consider whether there is anything they can do to stop this.

Emerites fire DXB and evacuation procedures

Just watched video footage taken by pax during evacuation with cabin filled with smoke etc, did you see the large number of passengers going to overhead bins for their carry on luggage (in the smoke)
How would you feel if you were furthest from an exit and others were opening bins to get the bags?

Honestly? I just watched it and it made me furious.
the pure selfishness of these people is beyond understanding.
Also, there didn't seem to be a lot of direction from the cabin crew until the end of the video? that may have just been due to the poor footage?

Agree. The behaviour has been studied before in other evacuations. Even though its an evacuation, it seems people go onto "auto pilot" ( pun not intended). "I'm leaving the aircraft, therefore I take my carryon...." Seems to be inbuilt...

I would be pushing hard......

I think you find there are many more examples of it not working.
