Emirates Delays/Cancellations

EK433 normally departs BNE at the unattractive time of 0500 hours for DXB but on Friday 20 May, it was not airborne until 0659 with arrival estimated as 1435 this afternoon, 75 minutes late. B773ER A6-EBQ is the plane.

Not correct, it normally departs at the unattractive time of 02:30 to fly via SIN to DXB, but for the next few months months is reverted to a direct service to allow runway works at BNE to happen between midnight and 5am each night.

Why it is delayed is a head scratcher as it should have landed prior to midnight and sat for 6 hours for its turn around back.

On Sunday 22 May, EK418 arriving in SYD (ex BKK) (B773ER A6-ECQ) is about 45 minutes late with arrival likely at 0830 hours. Despite a Saturday 21 May departure time of 1950 it was not airborne last night until 2109. As this flight's second sector (SYD - CHC) is scheduled for an 0915 hours departure, expect it to be at least 25 minutes late ex the gate for the Tasman Sea.

Watched EK 412 and EK 414 do their right turn out over the Royal National Park this morning within a few minutes of each other as they headed out over Garie Beach before turning left on their final approach. One of them was very later (9+ hours?).

EK415, the 0600 hours (anyone for an 0200 rise and an 0300 hours check in?) from SYD was away at about 0900 and should arrive DXB on 1 June 2016 at about 1720, three hours and five minutes late. This flight is usually punctual.

This flight is usually punctual.

However its pair the EK414 sometimes has "curfew anxiety" as its scheduled arrival in SYD is 2155 hrs. A delay at DXB for the airline to either delay the flight by a further 6 hours or genuflect before the Minister or his delegate.

I suspect there is some "padding" of the timetable of this flight as it has been more than 1 hour late in the past and just made it before the carriage turned back into a pumpkin...

Quickstatus, that inbound EK flight that you mention featured in a television show with a supposed 'panic' or 'imperative' facing EK staff in DXB in that they 'must get it away' before a certain hour'; 0215 hours may have been the time mentioned

Like you, I suspect there's some 'fat' in the schedule as it often picks up time - sometimes a lot - enroute to SYD.

On Sunday 5 June with the continuing rainy weather along Australia's lower east coast including significant falls in and around Sydney, EK418, the 0915 hours SYD to CHC (B773ER A6-EGH) had not long commenced taxiing at 1050. Arrival will be about an hour late in the NZ south island. Many aircraft in SYD have been using runway 07.

An historical report:

EK106 (A6-ENB B773 ATH-DXB)1600 hrs 2 June delayed until 0930hrs 03 June as EK106D.

Apparently some "engine issue" which can mean anything. This was fixed overnight. Passengers were sent to hotels at 2300 hrs with wake up call at 0500.

Unfortunately the same problem re-emerged at cruise necessitating a divert of EK106D to IST arriving around 1200hrs:

Apparently no catering was offered after takeoff. Even to J class passengers. Total flight time was 2.5 hours

At the point of divert the aircraft slowed down by 100 kts and descended by 1000 ft and stayed that way until approach according to FR24

Passengers were accommodated on other flights to DXB and A6-ENB ferried into DXB as EK2562 the next day.

Many passengers were accomodated on an EK100 (FCO-DXB A6-EBT B773) which diverted from FCO to pick them up at IST on 03June finally arriving in DXB at 2321 hrs some 26 hrs late and just in time for the 0225 departure of EK414 DXB-SYD.

Interestingly EK100 departed from FCO 30 minutes after EK106 landed at IST. Their routing suggests the decision to go to IST was made prior to departure.

Other passengers were accomodated on EK122 and 124 - regular IST-DXB flights

(Non-AFF passenger/friend reported their adventure today)

Note: EK does not have operations into/out of ESB (Ankara), only to/from IST
Times are FR24

The Sunday 19 June 2016 MEL arrival of EK404, the 2240 hours (Saturday 17) ex SIN will be at around 1200, more than four hours late on the timetabled 0750 hours.

A380 A6-EOO had not taken off from SIN until 0304 this morning.

On Wednesday 22 June 2016, EK405, the 1800 hours from MEL that initially proceeds to SIN and later to DXB, took off at a very late 2036, about 131 minutes late if 25 minutes is considered the timetable allowance for taxiing and the takeoff roll.

A380 A6-EOU should arrive in the Lion Capital at around 0128 on Thursday 23 June, 98 minutes late. In round figures this equates to (roughly speaking) a four minute gain on the timetable for every flight hour should the forecast times be reality.

Friday 24 June 2016 has seen restricted runway operations in SYD due to (adverse) weather.

EK419, the 1845 hours early evening departure from SYD to BKK took off at 1941 with arrival suggested as 49 minutes tardy at 0159 on Staurday 25. Aircraft is B773ER A6-EBW.

On Saturday 2 July, EK412 (0750 hours SYD - AKL) departed at 0852, arriving at 1347 hours, 47 minutes late.

The Sunday 3 July arriving EK406 was badly delayed, pulling into the MEL terminal at 0844, three hours and 19 minutes late. Its tag flight to AKL is timetabled to depart at 0710 but did not do so until 1056, with arrival predicted as 1607, 202 minutes late.

Monday 4 July's EK406 MEL - AKL 'tag flight' is the 0710 hours departure. It was airborne at 0836 so A380 A6-EDZ will be delayed in its arrival.

The early morning daily flight EK415 (0600 hours SYD - DXB) often manages to push back as early as 0550 but on Wednesday 13 July it did not take off until 0726. A380 A6-EDB is however only expected to be about 20 minutes late in arriving at 1435.

On a challenging weather-wise Wednesday 13 July, EK419, the 1845 hours SYD - BKK, took off at 1947 and with B773ER A6-EBQ as its aircraft should arrive at about 0157, 47 minutes tardy.

Thursday 14 July sees EK404 from SIN to MEL likely to arrive at around 0937 instead of 0750. A6-EOZ is the A380.

The first off blocks post-curfew morning EK415, the 0600 hours SYD - DXB on Thursday 14 July took off unusually late at 1241 with arrival likley at 2032 instead of 1415 hours, meaning many missed connections and in some cases possible overnight hotel stays. A6-EOE is the badly delayed aircraft which at least did not have its flight cancelled.

EK404 the soon to be discontinued service SIN-MEL and oft late service usually due to delays out of DXB was again delayed by 1 hr 20 minutes due to a late departure from DXB.

This is delay allowed me to connect from a late MH607 due to intense storms in KUL which forced single runway ops.

This morning MEL was operating the east west runway in a single runway operation - usually because of windy conditions with the windsock blowing horizontally.

.

When is EK 404 being discontinued? Isn't it DXB-KUL-MEL service that is being discontinued, replaced by non stop service.
