Hi all, I'm travelling as a Velocity Gold member on EY461 3 Jan 2015 to AUH and then onto AMS. I've looked but I cant find if Etihad have a Melbourne Lounge and I understand that I can use the Etihad Lounge in AUH on arrival as a Gold member, is this correct? Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Traveller34,

Thank you for flying with Etihad. Please be advised that the Arrival Lounge in Abu Dhabi is only for the Business and First Class guests. *JS

Etihad have been advertising for Melbourne-based lounge staff on their website, so things must be moving along.

Still not open as yet - EY pax still using NZ lounge - new lounge is to be situated adjacent to EK lounge - but I spoke that has already been posted.

The NZ lounge is perfectly nice in the interim. Ms Duffa was there on Monday......

Nothing short of Moët is adequate!

I've tried those NZ bubbles before - too 'sheep dippy' for my liking! ;)
Didn't ask her what the brand was. Uni students are happy with anything. And J travel is just heaven!!!

Has anyone flying out on the EY 23:25 flight form Melbourne recently been able to use the Air New Zealand lounge?
I have been told that it is only open a few hours prior to Air NZ flights, and there does not appear to be any late night Air NZ flights.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi Melbin,

Please stay tuned to our social channels for any further Etihad News.

Thank you. *JS

From my perspective it's disappointing, however, that you insist on insist on staff with experience in the industry.

Without hesitation I would bet my first month's salary that I would out surpass any of your 'experienced' staff with my experience and enthusiasm for any of your positions.

Champagne is nice but it would also be nice to be able to eat a proper hot dinner in the ANZ lounge after 9pm at night. Had the misfortune to arrive there at 8.50pm a few months back to find that there was nothing left to eat.

The Air NZ lounge provides facilities for about 15 different airlines so is only closes between midnight and 4am I believe.

I think they are planning to have it open to coincide with the start of the A380 service in June.

This is right on the money. Etihad only opened their JFK lounge a day before the A380 service was launched there last year.

My guess would be they might open it a couple of days prior to the A380 service launching just to work out any real world service and operational bugs with it but dont expect it much earlier than that unfortunately.

I went up to Level 3 today to see the progress of Etihad Lounge at Melbourne Airport. I seems to me that there is still a lot of work to be done. My estimate 3 months minimum. Maybe just before the arrival of A380.

I thought that might be the case. New lounges and refurbs never open on time - no which airline or airport!

Have now switched my flight to AUH to depart BNE on the 787 instead of departing from MEL on the 777 so the opening dtae is no longer such a pressing concern although I sure I will get to try it before the year is out.

Does anyone know if it looks likely that EY will be opening this lounge by June? I've booked a J seat on the A380 on 28 June.
