Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

For those that already have both an EDR card EDRCreditCard, can anybody confirm if the the barcode on the back of the credit card matches the same barcode number as the EDR card...?

Could be handy for a couple who in the past only could have separate cards linked to separate ff accounts... but only possible if the cards share the same numbers...

Yes the numbers are exactly the same

Just confused the poor Woolies checkout girl today by handing her the EDR credit card to scan the barcode and then swiping my Amex to pay for the food.

Thats pretty soft? Only 1 recent payslip. I remember Westpac normally asks for 3 months of payslip when obtaining a credit card.

When I applied for an Earth Gold card last year with Westpac I think I only had to supply the previous two payslips (though I had to attend a branch to do that).

Could be that since I am with a rather large employer they have custom arrangements which make reasonable assumptions based on the standardised payslips of the large organisation (and given my rent, health insurance and car lease all go appear on my pay slip there aren't many non-essentials left to account for - just utilities and food - so I'd consider it reasonably suitable as an indicator of financial situation assuming I wasn't heavily laden with debt).

I'd imagine the financial institutions apply different standards based on the details collected (eg. sector/employer and likely job security, length of employment, debt etc).

Seems pretty simple to me, Amex is going to earn more than 1:1 so its a no brainer...! Guess she was expecting a standard EDR card :D

I have had a number of Woolworths and Caltex staff get confused when I scan the Everyday Rewards CC then pay for the transaction with another card (currently a Wish giftcard having taken advantage of the DSE 5x bonus points promotion)

Not to mention that you only put points to QFF if you have no other choice (well at least in my circumstances anyway...).

Did it in DSE with an Amex, got a giggle but apart from that, no issues.

damn, my first statement period ended, and the Tax payment missed by one day. So I'm going to have to wait a month to see if I get the points for it.

Do you usually have to wait until the statement period ends for points? I can see the transaction for an ATO payment has gone through, but no rewards points have been posted yet.

Sorry mate, we don't stand a chance then. Just let us know if you do get a pleasant surprise anyway.

Got my card today, nice credit limit for a self employed person too...! 20k should be enough for my tax bill too...!

Gotta laugh about the size of the word "PLATINUM" on this card  I mean really, it must be the only Platinum card with an identity problem...?:oops::oops:

Perhaps, HSBC/Woolworths just want to increased interchange fees that come from 'Platinum' cards!

I like how you put it in words. But in commercial terms, Mastercard is probably walking on thin ice with a Platinum card costing less than $100. I'm sure Woolworths would have used their bargaining power to keep the fee to an absolute minimum but if the card is not Platinum then they can't throw in the free concierge services, doing so will only diminish the value of other high-fee Platinum cards. A QFF point per dollar earning rate would probably also require Platinum status as other Gold/Silver cards do not have this benefit. Basically, it's an identity problem of being cheap.

It's not alone. The Virgin Money Flyer card is a platinum visa, but they don't really push the platinum side of it.

Haha I know. A mate just got his... It looks like 'my first credit card' lol

3 weeks later and my EDR says:

xx_xx_'s Rewards Qantas Credit Card xx_xx_xx_x
xx_xx_'s Everyday Money Credit Card xx_xx_xx_xx

But I only applied for the one Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit card!

Similar experience here; I applied on Monday 15th and today (Friday 19th) a card number is displaying. Gotta love those double points!

A letter dated Friday 19th along with a nice shiny "platinum lite" card was awaiting me in the mailbox last night. Not a bad turnaround! Now, about that extra 350 points offer at WOW Liquor ... ;)

My first post, I recieved my card which was around 16% of my modest income. It's very handy carrying one card now, it's a shame the havent offered bonuses for qantas soends yet but I guess it will come

Got mine in the mail today - activation took 45 minutes of being on hold.

I asked about getting an additional card for my wife, but the lady said the online system was not ready yet to apply for this and to try back mid December. :(

Limit is approx 20% of my stated income which does me nicely. Finally I can get rid of the ANZ Amex!

Good to see theres some good credit limits being handed out, certainly makes it easier for harvesting ff points, lets all just be careful and pay the cards off in a timely manner, after all these cards are only low cost if you pay the balance off every month...!
