I think the bonus has been reduced to 12,500 points. I saw it on a small poster at Dlck Smith today. Valid for new applications until 30th April 2011.

Yes 12500 points.

Everyday splash page now has it.....though they have not yet changed where it links to which has 16,000 with a apply by Jan 31 date.

One pathetic aspect is you can only see that last five transactions on the website. Surely it wouldn't have killed the programmer to show all transactions from the last statement (as with Amex) or just all transactions (CBA).

Credit Card menu -> View Transactions.

I was filling in the paper application for this form today, because we want the 2nd card for my wife.

I noticed that it asks for my wife's Qantas FF number (which she doesnt have one) - and that if she doesnt have one they will give her one for free.

I thought the whole point of a second card was that all the points would land into my account.

So I rung them, and the lady said all the "credit card" purchases (i.e. 1 point per dollar) will go into my account, but the Everday rewards (i.e. points above $30 at Wollworths) will actually go into her new Qantas account.

Here's the great bit: apparently my wife will also get 12,500 bonus points into her new Qantas account. All for $0.

So go grab that free 2nd card (with no credit check) - get a free 12,500 points, and then do a free transfer in the Qantas FF section (min 5k, max 100k points per 12 months).

I have used my card for some FOREX purchases and noted the following:

  • The "margin" seems to be approx. 0.4%
  • Shown as a separate transaction is "OVERSEAS TRANSACTION CHARGE" at 2%
  • Reward points are NOT earned on the "OVERSEAS TRANSACTION CHARGE".
So not the best, but certainly not the worst.

Ooh! Good to know. Thanks for letting us know.

Was there any significant delay in the transactions appearing online in comparison to local transactions?

Oh, that's disappointing.

Well I won't be using that card for any transactions here in LOTFAP anymore.

No more than the normal (

) 4-5 day delay for most transactions with this product.

I applied and got the card. My first transaction was on 31st of Jan. I'm guessing that l still get the 16k points?

Out of curiosity.. what will 12,500 FF pts get you? Anything worth more than the $89 annual fee?

3 x $25 Woolworths Gift Cards will give you $75

This would leave you with 1,250 pts balance remaining (at the burn rate for a gift card that works out to have a "value" of $8.33 when used with additional points)

So I would say that it's going to be difficult to recover the annual charge off of the initial bonus points only.

Now if you got approved before Jan 31st then it would have been easily possible

Can you confirm on this as T&C states:
2. 12,500 Qantas Frequent Flyer points offer is available to new primary cardholders who apply between 1 February 2011 and 30 April 2011,

There is no mention of points for supplementary cardholders.

Another 500 Points bonus for $100 Everyday spend today :)

Did that at lunchtime with my Gift Card bought for 5 bonus points on top of the 1.5 Plat spend with another 1.0 point dollar customer loyalty bonus.

Net result for the $100 = 500 + 500 + 150 + 100 = 1250 points ;)

Did you just reply to the wrong thread? What is this about?

I know - but its just what the chick on the phone said. I'll let you know if my wife ends up getting the points or not (she needs the card regardless).
