Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

I was at d..k smith the other day and asked the guy to scan my card before swiping it for payment.

He tried to tell me that if the card was linked to my EDR account then it didn't need to be scanned, the swipe for payment would cover it. I politely insisted he scan it first.. :)

Correct -- there's no link. I've purchased at Woolworths using the card but not scanning. Missed the points.

Not sure how motivated I am to switch my partner's spend over from Amex......additional card holders have to provide their own QFF number and receive the points from their spend
I've just re-read your post, and noticed this on the form. This does suck a bit. I was under the (clearly misguided) assumption that the additional cardholder would credit points to the primary cardholder's QFF account, since it's all coming from the same c/card account (i.e. one QFF link per card account, not per physical card).

I have to sign the form to say that I'm "responsible for the use of the additional card, and must pay for all transactions made by the additional cardholder, including any charges", but the points don't get credited to me. Seems a bit inconsistent.

It's a bit of a bugger, because although I can do a family transfer, I can only do that once a year.

EDIT: Ahh, I should have read the back of the form ...... as primary cardholder, I'll get the points associated with the credit card spend, but points gained by scanning the back of the card (the standard EDR points) will go to the additional cardholder.

More complex than it probably needs to be!

Easily fixed -- give the Mrs the key-ring card that relates to your QFF account. I got two of them. So I have four scannable cards: the CC, a large CC-sized EDR card and two key-ring cards.

That's what we'll be doing, problem fixed :)

Just returned from my local woolworths store to pay some off my card, should of seen the looks I got when I presented approx $16k in cash :p:p:p

The chick at the checkout said that thats more than she earns lol. I said to her I'll see her next week with another $10k just to keep me within my credit limit...!

This makes me wonder, there may be a security issue when people make large payments with cash, wonder how woolies will handle this, the chick at the shop said that the most she has seen paid is just a few hundred dollars:?::?::?:

BTW, I usually do b-pay payments until the clowns at my credit union put a cap on BPAY payments of $5k per day.......What a joke

I had originally applied on-line in late November, but never received any responses.

I re-applied on-line in the last few days of January. Within 10 days I had received a conditional approval letter, then went to a Woolworths store, did the 100 point check, received the card and had it activated it over the phone by 19th February.

The 16,000 bonus points posted to my QFF account today, just under 4 weeks from first use of the credit card. :)

Its the 4 day turnaround that Woolies/HSBC introduces that drives me bonkers. Bpay Monday and _maybe_ you'll see it hit the account on Thursday. Its just too hard for me to manage with the slow posting of purchases and even slower payments - which they'll sting you for by the way. Early or late payment includes their own ponderous period where your money is in outer space.

Anyway. Nice 16K free points. Nice sounding 1:1 earn but too difficult for me to push serious money through it (or I'm too lazy ... probably closer to the truth).

I use it for petrol and groceries and thats about it.

And this allows her to scan the EDR key-ring and swipe her AMEX, and keep the EDR CC safe for a rainy day  !

Bankwest does the same thing, $5k limited on bpay per day and only $1500 limited transfer to the 3rd party, this is even more like a joke. I closed my account after 3 days since I opened.

Thanks for the "heads-up" Will stay clear of the Bankwest clowns too...!

Really something wrong when banks / Credit Unions etc telling you what you can do with your money...and more importantly how much you can spend or transfer...:!:

Crystal Ball gazers.......

OK so I have had WWEDRCC for 3 or 4 mths now - I have the 16K bonus in QFF - I never use this card.

Do I cancel? Probably yes - but do any of you guys see the possibility of other rewards / bonii that WW might offer to EDRCC holders going forward?

No dobt it is fairly common practice to scan you EDR barcode to get the bonus Qantas points then actually pay with AMEX - surely the 'brains trust' in WW and or Qantas are aware of this and would actually want the WWEDRCC to be used as paying card instead?

Your thoughts please.

What's your alternative non-Amex card?

I think that everyone does that. Scans the EDRCC and pays with AMEX for points bonus.

Well that was kinda what I was getting at.

I don't imagine WW / Qantas set out to gazillion issue cards and give away trillions of QFF pts and then have bonus QFF pts earnt by card holders at check out but actually pay with AMEX.

Given the number of blank looks I get when I ask them to scan my card, I tend to think that there aren't that many cards out there - certainly not gazillions. Either that, or the average punter doesn't realise their barcode is on the back of the card.

So far I have had an offer of 12c per liter off fuel when useing ePump, and I would imagine that over time there will be additional promotions.

Businesses offering a BPay payment facility are bound by the rules of the BPay Payments Scheme.
The BPay website states the following:

BPay said:
How long will it take for the payment to go through?
As long as you make a payment before your financial institution's cut-off time (this is the time at the end of the business banking day when you need to make a payment by for it to be processed overnight), the biller will acknowledge the payment as having been made that day.
If you make a payment after your financial institution's cut-off time, the biller will acknowledge the payment as having been made on the next banking business day (this does not include weekends or public holidays).
Sometimes it can take a biller a number of days to apply a payment to your account.
(My bolding.)

I always pay my credit card on the due date, before my bank’s cut-off time, and, thus far, have never had an issue.

Thankyou for posting that - I've done so several times on this forum but I don't think so in this thread. I do likewise and pay via BPay on the last business day. While everything with WWEDRCC seems to happen at glacial pace, when they eventually show up payments have always been against the correct date.

I had to do a last minute reschedule of my last WWEDRCC statement payment since it was due on Monday 11th which while not being a public holiday for HSBC in Sydney, was a holiday for my paying bank based in Melbourne. Public holidays should mean absolutely nothing for computerised banking systems but somehow it does.

This also highlights one of my biggest disappointments in the WW/HSBC online system, and that is the ability to schedule BPay payments from my WWEDRCC for a future date. While it dosnt matter if the payment is made in the same billing cycle, it's just the principal of the thing.

Richard.

While a biller will acknowledge that the payment as received on the day the BPay payment has been made, this does not mean that the credit will be available in the time between the day of BPay payment and the day the actual funds are available.

So, in the example, say a payment is made on Monday, but the funds arrive on Thursday, they will be acknowledged as having been there since Monday. However, if you card is maxxed out on Monday, you will not be able to use the card for purchases on Tuesday or Wednesday.
