Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

Received offer in the mail today for 3.99% p.a on balance transfer from non-HSBC & Woolworths cards for a maximum of 6 months

Must admit this offer is pretty much as lame as one gets... Cant they see I pay full balance on end of month and never pay 1c of interest, so I'm hardly going to jump at an offer which is going to cost me, not save me...

This must be non-targeted and very lame for most on here...

I also got this offer, and like you I always pay in full so never* pay any interest. My offer also came with a substantial "conditionally approved" credit limit increase that amounts to some 60% over what I considered was a pretty reasonable original limit (~17% of then annual income).

I like to have high limits on cards to cater for the occasional emergencies that crop up every now and then, so will take this one up (I ignored a more modest increase offer earlier this year).

Richard.

* I did actually pay a little over 50 cents interest after buying a lottery ticket because I didn't realise HSBC treats "gambling" expenditure as cash advances.

I got a similar offer, but at 5.99% interest for the balance transfer - so yes, it can get even lamer. :)

Yes pretty lame indeed... The recent Wetpac offer with the 16k QFF points had 0.99% balance transfer for 9 months.. so will be a while before i need another balance transfer offer and it had better be lower and longer than this one...

So frustrating - overseas for 2 months, want to log on online to pay the card since I know there will be expenditure from when its due - cant remember the "special question" to log on --> try ringing up, seems it only answers your calls 8am-8pm AEDST. Bit of a pain when you're in a different time zone!

Announcement on this months statement...

So that now makes this a 2pt per $1 card on selected Qantas purchases...:D

They must have figured out the sheer lack of Qantas bookings going through these cards, since ANZ, Westpac & other cards have bonus points for Qantas purchases.... I know its still a $1/pt card (excluding the new Qantas bonus partner 2x points) but the value of this card just keeps getting better and better in my opinion...

I have some further information on this after a very long call (20 mins old hold!) with WW/HSBC.

The only merchant account which qualifies is:
Qantas Mascot Aus

This is used for Qantas.com bookings, and Qantas Club & Frequent Flyer Membership they tell me.

If it goes through "Qantas E Mascot Aus" (EpiQure) I know you don't earn bonus point per dollar as I did not receive them on a recent order.

HBSC could not tell me if Qantas Holidays or Qantas Hotels or any of the other Qantas merchant accounts would earn the bonus point per dollar. If anyone else wants to call and try again, please report back.

Yawn. This will still be 48 hours behind. If it's the same standard and usability as the website it will be useless. Good card but have no confidence in their IT competence or ability.

To my surprise, made a B-Payment into this card yesterday late afternoon and the payment has already shown up using the online web portal... I'm a little impressed, all be it its taken a while to fix... But to have a B-payment showing up in less than 24 hours is an improvement for this card...

Their webpage still sux compared to many other banks, but at least B-Payments don't take +48 hours to turn up...!

I share Isochronous's pain where after 3 attempts to log on while I am overseas I now have to call a 1 300 number now that I am locked out.
I had my card replaced so that probably caused something to blip out in my log in.
Anyway that is a card I would not use in America so nothing to really get concerned about seeing we head home in a week.

I notice the speed-up too. Sort of half impressed.

And you're right -- the worst financial web page ever. It needs a total remake from scratch. I also use CBA, Ing, Ubank and Amex. CBA is great. Ubank and Amex are OK but could do better. Woolworths is just risible.

I have the same issue with the prepaid card, it works for discount but change back to points, the voucher goes AWOL for two days then comes back but no points! I gave up playing tennis between the various departments trying to get to the bottom of the issue.

I seem to be having the same issue.

I elected to receive points instead of discount last year. The first couple of epump transactions all went well - points posted to QFF as separate transactions. Then it just stopped.

Logging on to everyday rewards it shows I have cent per litre discount vouchers, I go to the pump but the vouchers just stay unused then eventually expire.

I got around to calling everyday rewards last weekend and they insisted I should speak to everyday money. The people at everyday money have no clue about this and some of the phone agents are just plain rude. Couldn't have been clearer with the one I spoke to on Sauturday that the problem was only for points from epump transactions NOT transfer from my CC statement. Nonetheless she sent off an email to someone saying I wasn't getting points from my CC spend. And days later than promised I got a call back today to tell me my credit card points posted successfully. Um, yeah I know.

Called everyday money again and this time was told it wasn't possible to earn QFF at the pump, only for credit card spend and shopping at woolworths! Arrgggh!! I let the CSR know that as she clearly doesn't know how this stuff works I'd need to speak to a supervisor. He too thought there was no way to earn extra QFF in lieu of cash discount - why the heck would I elect to forego the discount then!?!? He called up everyday rewards and got a lesson in how this actually works and confirmed to me that I should be receiving points for petrol. I was also told that I should be speaking to rewards, not money - which sounds fair enought but they told me it wasn't their problem in the first place. It's a farce - I have one piece of plastic with a credit card number on the front and an everyday rewards card number on the back!

As I told him I was about to close both the credit card and the ER account he credited me 500 QFF as a goodwill gesture and promised a call back next week.

We shall see but I suspect I'll be closing both.

Rang up to cancel today since I use Amex when I can and mostly use Citibank Visa because I want to send points to Krisflyer. So not much on this card and not worth the annual fee. They immediately offered fee-free for a year and I had already indicated I was happy to continue to hold even though I have no current need to use much.

So was about to hang-up when the guys said "oh hold it", I was waiting for bad news but he then said I can offer you a balance transfer at 0% up to your credit limit for 6 months. Now I don't really need it because I pay my balances off anyway but $15k free to put into a high-interest savings account and get a bit of interest not something I'm going to turn down!

Hillarious! I had exactly the same thing happen to me today: phoned to cancel, fee-free offer, 0% offer. I said I'd need FF points to keep it. The bloke said can't do that. I cancelled!

Hi All

Sorry for asking a noobie question as I tried to go through the past posts on this thread, but it is simply getting too much.

Long story short -> how basic is the Woolie's website for this Everyday Rewards Qantas Card, does it list all transactions or only transactions for a limit set of days?

The reason I am asking this is because I am tossing up between this and the current Jetstar MasterCard Platinum promotion. Currently, I have a St.George Amplify Qantas and is not paying a separate annual fee for it (as it is wrapped up as part of the loan package fee). Soon, i will have to pay the annual fee and the earning rate of $1 per 0.5 point is not appealling. It seems that either the Woolie card or the Jetstar Platinum card is good for first year (albeit Woolie wins out on annual fee from second year onwards). But, there seems to complaints towards both of these cards having extremely basic website and very cough/rude customer service.

Hence, I appreciate any info.

WOW EDR CC, 5k bonus sign up and $1:1point for $89 a year, MasterCard (accepted everywhere), l think it's a great card.

Customer service is fine, l certainly haven't had any problems the 2 times l've called 'em, lol.

Other card to look at is the QF Credit Union Card with 30k bonus sign up and the $195 fee is waved the first year too.

Thanks. How basic is the website? I mean I kind of expect it to only display transactions that's about it. But how far back does the website display the transactions (i.e. forever or only up to say 6 mths)? Btw, does it display real-time "authorisations", i.e. those transactions which have been "authorised" but not yet officially "posted" onto the online transaction statement yet?

Its about as basic as you could expect to get. All transactions are available so far as I can tell, you you will wait 1-4 days for cc authorisations to come through and be seen. Don't expect anything as fancy as the CBA where the moment you make a purchase it appears on the website.

Cool, just like cards issued by Amex then right (i.e. no real-time authorisation information). But I would assume the EDW website will be even more basic than the Amex website for its cards (i.e. at least it look more professional)

Appropriate timing for this thread...

I seem to have this issue with them more than any other bank.
