Exciting News from Allan (according to the email)

Actually the theory stacks up:

You

Air - Yes
PER - Yes
Email - yes

MatF (and me)

Air - Yes
PER - No
Email - No

Me

Air - No
PER - Yes
Email - Yes

I'd say it's more if
WP and been to PER in the past xx Months, then email
If SG or PS and been to PER in the past yy Months, then email

(been = been or going to).

But who knows. I got it and I'm not going to PER until end of the year (although that is in my frequent flyer bookings).

Email = yes
Air = yes
PER = yes (twice in 08 and 09 & usually J on points upgrade)

I have a JASA SYD - PER return booked for 10 - 12 September so I figured that's what qualified me.

As my renewal date is 31 Oct and I'm still 500 points shy of WP (but will get there) I'm hoping that seeing "platinum until 31/10/2012" on my profile is my reward from Alan for being part of his trial. I would have preferred the double SC offer that I didn't get.

Email = yes
Air = no
PER = once like 3 years ago
And a lowly PS. But I am actually flying SIN-BNE via PER next month ... so hopefully my card gets here in time!

The having been to Perth in the recent past (how recent is recent?) or having a booking in the near future seems to be the most consistent constant. :confused:

So it looks like the only ones who can use Premium Security are J pax, SGs and WPs. However Priority Boarding is only available for J pax and WPs.

I'm of course dreading the scenario where there are so many people in the Premium Security line that it would be simpler just to take the standard lines. As well, how would they truly regulate that the right people will use the right line? (I wonder how this is checked for something like priorityAAccess?)
There has been a premium security line at SYD T3 for the past few weeks for (i think) J travelers, WP, SG, & QP. It doesn't seem very well policed to make sure only eligible pax use it, and most times I've gone through security the queue hasn't been shorter or faster than the other queues - sometimes longer.
The domestic security fast tracks for AA / OW elites in the US and BA / OW at Heathrow really do make a huge difference at busy times, so hopefully qantas will get this working properly here.

Remember that security points, at all terminals in the USA, check the boarding pass before allowing you to pass through the screening point. Thus the enormous "PRIORITYAACCESS", which gets plastered across BPs informs most of them that you qualify... in addition (e.g. a WP flying F) "FIRST" and "EMERALD" are also displayed prominently. (Note that on AA - First Class is called to board before priorityAAccess, but after assisted boarding.)

In some multi-use US terminals, where the security agent may not know all the multiple airline codes (as to whom is permitted to fast track); the check-in agent will stamp the boarding pass with a pass-code, e.g. "GOLD LANE" at check in.

QP members can't use either Premium Security or Priority Boarding unless they are travelling J.
Also of note, is that PS no longer seem to be able to use a premium check-in counter, if they prefer to do so.

Air mag-no
Flights to Perth- yes, lots
Email- yes
Funny thing is my next contract is Bass Strait so, for the next 12 months I will fly BNE-MEL and wont get to Perth unless training is involved.

Some of us in this thread fly in and out of PER!

Where priority baggage has as much meaning as dirt ;)

Waited numerous times for J tagged baggage at PER to have it come off pretty much dead last. PER and MEL seem to have no regard a lot of the time for priority luggage.

Interesting to see the size of the new "smart tags" they're introducing (if the ones in the demo video were accurate). Much larger than I anticipated.

Also:

Air - no
WP - no (SG)
PER - probably averaging about a trip every three weeks since the start of the year...
Email - yes.

I agree about Perth where Priority seems to have the reverse meaning but I can honestly say I have rarely if ever had an issue in Melbourne.

Yeah likewise. Never had too much of an issue with MEL. PER (my new home airport as of a week ago...) is a joke!

Wonder when the QPNB/QPPS will receive the email as we're supposed to be receiving privileges as part of NGCI implementation.

Also interesting as the video walk-thru hasn't accounted for this group of customers.

Also would have thought that given the bag drop has a screen device, it wouldn't be hard to handle payment from there with a simple card-swipe and emailed receipt.

This is the 'Trial' before the real-world roll-out. I'm guessing they want large amounts of feedback quickly from a minimum of travellers. It makes sense to only do WP/SG and people who are very frequently travelling in and out of PER to get stats on the system quickly (seeing as they say they're starting roll-out later this year to other airports).

Curious if you will be able to select your seat if you use your FF card to check in (it suggests you will be allocated a seat at the boarding gate)...

I like the sound of it though, especially the priority security lane. Just wish they could do this at the international airport too.
