Family Pooling update

No it's not just you, I did the same thing initially. You need to log in to your individual family members accounts and then pool to yours.
It doesn't work the opposite way.

Question for VFF/VA, and I'm ready to be laughed at.

I went to set this up, and was a little confused.

If I'm in my account, and select the family pooling option, am I setting it up so that I am giving or receiving the points/SCs?

It's just a little unclear from the wording on the website and I don't want to set it up the wrong way.
ditto here as well:oops:

Yup, I figured it out finally as well!

Can someone tell me whether you can book a DJ reward seat online for someone else from your Velocity account? I'm thinking of TF all my +1's DJ points to my account, and at times, will be booking flights for her when I'm not part of the travellling group.
Can someone help me with this Q? ta

Sorry for being a bit thick but I still cant seem to understand the T-C:confused:

Re: 6.28.9 Does this mean that the points and SC currently in my wife's account can not be pooled or will they be transferred at the creation of the pooling account? if they are not pooled what happens to them
What is in your wife's account at the commencement date of the family pooling remains there. From the date of commencement (depending on whether you choose SC's or Points+SC's), all the earned SC's or Points+SC's from all "pooled members accounts" will go to the beneficially entitled member's account

kpc & awilcockson, Princess Fiona's comments are correct, as I created 3 accounts today (wife & both kids) and then went into their account to create the pooling to my account.

So as the old saying goes, it is better to give than receive :D

Yep, I think I understand. Mrs Gremlin's SCs aren't "orphaned" per se, but they remain in her account. Once I hit 800 SCs (and requalify as Plat), I become the "Contributor" and start topping up her existing 150 SCs to get her to Plat in her own right.

You just need to be cautious about when her points expire. Don't want to lose them whilst sitting there.

I have enough points expiring in the next couple of weeks to put my wife up a level but unfortunately can't transfer them to her so she won't move a level. So they are just lost whilst sitting there.

Kpc, from my understanding (doing a number of bookings today), when one is making a booking (without having signed in), there is a point (where one nominates the pax), that it prompts for a VFF member to sign in (so that it can pre-populate the Pax 1 fields). However it does ask the question first whether the member is one of the flying party, or merely making the booking for the party (using their points).

At that point, you'd tick that second box and it wouldn't pre-populate your details into the fields, but would recognise that the points are to be deducted from your account.

I haven't got any VAFF points yet, so not sure if I can create a dummy booking to test.

Thanks for clearing that up Lindsey

When you set your pooling up it says "To pool your Points or Points and Status Credits with a family member...." - ie you are about to action your points and/or points and SC's to another member.
You'll have to be nice to your respective partners, cause its their choice whether or not you get those Status Credits or not! :p

Hmm, maybe my dog should get a Velocity account

(I'm sure that more than one pet has signed up to a QFF account through EDR)

straitman, awilcockson and Jama, I almost created marital disharmony tonight, by reading your responses via iPhone whilst lying in bed. I was trying hard to stifle a laugh and luckily did not wake up Mrs LW, who had just fallen asleep (I can hear her steady breathing in my ear) :D ;)

All signed up and ready to pool! I was hoping you could credit to one person and then "draw down" on the points/SCs as required but not to be. Just means I'll need to stay on top of things and as soon I hit the magic 800 mark we'll switch the direction of the SCs and go from there! The one really annoying thing is I think I'll hit 800 midway through a double SC earn flight, so the rest from that flight will be wasted. D'oh!

Got the pooling set up tonight... Just in time to get the "family member" flights in 2 weeks into my account.

BNE - SYD - PER - SYD - BNE all in Business and on the double SCs promo... Bring on Plat lol...

Do the switch beforehand so all the double SCs go to your partner and then switch back when your just flying a lower SC routing. Nothing to gain by losing them ;)

OK, so this is all great and for me I see no downside.

But for you really high SC earners, have you considered the implications should DJ introduce life time status??

It's just a hassle to have to keep remembering to switch it back and forth all the time. Having it pool to one person and then being able to "draw down" on the SCs, or transfer them back would have been easier. I can see people getting upset here when they forget to change it and miss out on status. Will need to be vigilant at keeping up to date with SC balances - although I guess people are good at that around here!

+1. For families with kids and only 1 medium to high tier member it is a huge winner. Princess Fiona and I are happy

They'll have to weigh up a benefit now (higher status) versus the possibility of a future benefit being diminished and take longer to achieve.
