Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Sat next to Tony Abbott, in business class, a few years ago. he was was interesting to talk to particularly as I am a Liberal Party member. Then met him again at a liberal party function. He is a very nice and genuine person, as I have alway been a Costello supporter, he changed my view of him.

Tom green was on my BNE-SYD last month.

Same trip, was next to Keith Urban on LAX-LAS.

Seen many over the years, heaps of politicians (do they count?) and football teams every second flight.

Sat behind Phillip Ruddock on SYD-CBR recently. He had Row 1 all to himself, so I'm assuming that he's still CL despite no longer behind in the cabinet / shadow cabinet (though I guess he's the longest serving member of the Reps).

Saw Peter Rowsthorn (Brett of Kath and Kim fame) wandering around the gift shop at the MEL QP earlier this week. He lives pretty close to us so we seem to see him around a lot.

Was a few rows away from Livinia Nixon the first time I flew QF domestic J several years ago.

When I was a Pearl Jam groupie, I managed to land the same flight as half of their entourage, but the band must have gone an earlier flight. That's one appearance that would have absolutely made my day.

That's all I've got. :)

SYD/LAX I had Richard Branson sitting behind me. I was in 1K whilst he was in 3K. It must have pained him to be flying QF but until November comes along he does not have a lot of choice. And I think probably the only time I'll ever be sitting ahead of him...(you have to love duty travel!!)

He was escorted through passport control and then like the rest of the flight, had to wait 30 minutes for out luggage to arrive. The opulence of F comes tumbling to earth as soon as you get off the a/c.

What self-respecting billionaire flies commercial?

Peasant.

QP Domestic SYD-OOL Jack Thompson had a great chat as we had met several times in the 80's at various haunts in Sydney over the years.
Kerry O'Brien SYD- ADL a few weeks back.

Too many to mention while I was living in Paris for 10 years.

Not me but my colleague flying J JFK-LHR, had Buffy the Vampire Slayer (aka Sarah Michelle Geller) jabbering in her seat as we taxied down the runway.

He asked her to switch off for obvious reasons, she rolled her eyes at him, told the person on the other end that "some jerk just told me to switch off my phone. Gotta go."

Needless to say, he had no idea who she was until one of the other members of our team told him (had seen her as we walked to Y class).

Our stylist was well connected and made sure it made the gossip column back in AU: "Buffy Slayed by Adelaide Photographer on Flight to London!"

Some people just don't get it when it comes to safety. . . . . . .

LAX-SYD - September last year, VAustralia, Hamish & Andy were in Business, I was in Economy.
I saw Hamish helping pax with their bags in SYD, which I though was pretty nice.

I wonder if that was on the way back from doing the Caravan of Courage?

Since the others were too lazy to post or have forgotten or thought she wasn't really famous... :)

Saw Liz Ellis at the ADL QP last Sunday pm, while we were waiting for our respective flights after OzFest. She was at the bar. :)

Nicola Roxon leaving the MEL T1 QP last Friday. She was coming down the escalator as I was going up - I assume she had actually been in the CL.

Saw footballers from 3 different teams at MEL QP, ADL airport and ADL Hilton respectively but I'm not sure they count. ;)

Yeh... I saw Richmond at the Hilton. They trounced Port Adelaide.

20th May VA24 HKT to BNE had Jeff Fenech sitting in "J" with us. Must admit he had a lot of trouble sitting still.

Had Kate Ellis in 1A with me in row 3 BNE-ADL last Saturday arvo

Pretty sure Tommy Radounkis walked past row 6 on my SYD-BNE flight on 20 May. The same flight with the nice lady wandering from Y to the J toilet just as the aircraft was turning into the runway for takeoff

Not my first Tommy Radounkis encounter. Had a close meeting in BNE in the mid 1990s farewelling a mate who was moving to SYD. The mate kneed down for a photo just as Tommy walked past and tripped the big fella up. Tommy was coach of the coughroaches at that time and was on his way home with the team after a sound thrushing. Needless to say it looked like turning nasty for a while.

On my recent trip on QF97 BNE-HKG, I was op-upped into J and sat next to the chairman of Sirromet winery.

OK not a famous person, but not often that you end up sitting next to the top bloke of a company. Really nice guy - we exchanged contacts; looks like I'll have to visit the winery and the restaurant one day.

It’s quite nice, and their Seven Scenes Cab Sav is very nice :)

On Sunday 6 June saw Allan Langer, Ivan Henjak, Darren Lockyer, Israel Folau, Sam Thaiday and the rest of the Brisbane team in the SYD Qantas Lounge after their win against Manly.

Worse still they were on the same flight (but down the back somewhere ;)) and then waiting at the luggage carousel in BNE.
