Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Gordon Tallis boarding QF536 on Tuesday afternoon. He walked past J to take his seat somewhere down in Y.

No OP up for me, no OP up for him!

He probably could not afford J, he got fined 12K in court the next day.

Todd and Sonia from Dancing With the (C List) Stars are currently sitting next to us in the J lounge at T3 in SYD. There are plenty of seats but they have chosen a table right at the entrance, in front of the food, even though they aren't eating. They are also talking quite loudly. You would be forgiven for thinking they want everyone to notice them ;).

Could they have been asked to be noticeable in the J Lounge in return for discounted/free travel?

I sat next to Minnie Driver in the QP at MEL last November. Believe it or not, I got her phone number (I didn't ask for it) and we went out to lunch in Santa Monica three days later. Purely platonic of course as I am a happily married man and she was involved with someone and still is, but she was wonderful company and we have kept in touch ever since. Really great person and I can actually call her a friend now.

Who on earth is Minnie Driver? (on phone about to take off can't google!)

Flying Melb-Sing-Lon last year. Richard Branson and daughter in the QF lounge after the Grand Prix win. Kept to himself. I noted that QF provided no extras for him (apart from first class which I guess he paid for). Even if the enemy, I thought QF might have accorded him a bit special treatment. Joined the queue for security screening. Even had a chat to him. Good guy.

Are you kidding? RB flying Qantas?! Noooo way. Jokes right?

Shades of cash for comment.
As I understand, QF crew are vetted to crew Mr Allan Jones. And his butlers instructions include champangne type as well as other outrageous personal requirements. Hardly a normal QF passenger.

On the day Rudd got toppled- I was in the 1st lounge w/ Alan Jones in Singapore.

He was in 1A, and I was in 3A on the A380 back to Sydney. He spent a lot his time on the phone doing interviews back home.

What a day for him to be out of the country!

He definately got the pref treatment- and the next day on 2GB gave Qantas a massive wrap.

Vetted you say? It must be a popular position. No doubt there's a bit of a scramble to see who gets the head job in that cabin, I mean, top job!

Hahaha, nice.

I'm sure staff feel the other way and try and bid OUT of those flights.

I doubt he's the only frequent F passenger who has a rider. What is your source on the "vetting" of FA's? What are the selection/rejection crieria? What are some of the more "outrageous" requirements?

Bernard Hill (Theoden from LotR) at WLG check in with his incredibly red haired son.

There seemed to be a passport issue though (insufficient time remaining I think) and I didnt subsequently see him in the lounge...

Allan Jones is pretty much famous only in Australia. Theoden was a key character in one of the highest grossing film franchises of all time - Lord of The Rings (LotR).

So the character is famous, not the individual?

BTW: Not saying I rate Alan Jones.....

A friend of mrsdoc sees celebrities every time she travels and excitedly tells mrsdoc about it. Unfortunately most of the time, neither mrsdoc or myself have heard of any of them, and would never be able to pick them out of a lineup. Guess that's why we dont see many celebrities in our travels.......
