Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Not that I would recognise anyone except for the team name on the uniforms

- Cronulla Sharks players in SYD yesterday (more than likely lower grade players on the earlier flight)
- Brisbane Lions players in BNE DJ arrivals (again possibly lower grade players as it was ~9:00pm)

Met Josh Thomas in the Melbourne QP a couple of weeks back. Really nice guy :)
Also spotted Julie Bishop on QF717 to Perth back from Canberra, albeit not particularly exciting

Sir Bob Geldof in QF/BA Flounge in SIN on 29 Apr and then on QF32 SIN-SYD

While Sir Bob was in F Mrs Paddy & I were humbly riding in J :p

He spent a fair amount of time in the on-board lounge with some friends, including a lovely blonde who had to fly in J with us mere mortals

Paddy

No where near as good as the other sightings, but I sat next to Kitty Flanagan on QF738 a few months ago. I think it was the end of the ADL comedy festival. I had just finished a 30+ hour job so was asleep as the plane took was still taxiing and didn't wake up until my boss tapped me on shoulder when we were disembarking in SYD.

Sitting in flagship lounge LAX sippng champagne (sparkling wine) with Meg Ryan sitting 10 meter beihind me - sorry guys not the sort of person to go to celeb and ask for photo. Also caught flight with blues after state of origin on Thursday 26th May. The boys were most upset they were not in J seating.

Following on from my sitting next to Megan Gale and not knowing who she was (see thread ages ago) I saw Alannah Hill in J on a Mel-Syd run on a Monday late morning whilst I was connecting through to Jakarta. Dressed fantastically and a very pleasant woman.

I had a 5 minute chat to Kylie Minogue on one flight, and I had no idea who she was.....

Surely her (lack-of) height would have been a giveaway. She's one of QF's few PAX who would fit comfortably in any 737 non-exit row seat ;)

Serbian Soccer team/officials on our 73H flight to SYD on Wednesday.

They boarded late (into economy) and when finding there was no overhead storage space for their carry-on, simply left it in the aisles for crew to sort out. (Fortunately we were in row 1.)

We ended up leaving ¼ hour late.

Did you let off a flare? :p

QF 415 SYD-MEL Today. (Flight lasted 2 & 1/2 Hours due to Fog)

Me in 1B
Grant Denyer (Sunrise) in 1A
Jim Wilson in 2A
Todd McKenny 3A

I helped Grant with his bags into the overhead locker!!

Delta Goodrem was on VA 1 today.
Why she didn't fly Delta was beyond me? :P

Saw her in LAX customs getting ushered around like she was a superstar, go figure.

I actually sat next to Megan Gale on a MEL-SYD in business on Sunday evening May 29th. I recognised her straight away, and I can honestly tell you 1.5 hours later after chatting with her she is a very beautiful lady in all senses of the word.

FWIW, Megan is Platinum, and all of her flights/gigs are arranged by the agency or whichever mob is paying for her services. Internationally she flies business or First and mostly flies Qantas, but also Singapore and Cathay although her international travels are more scarce nowadays with so much local demand. The MEL-SYD corridor is apparently a 2-3 time weekly occurrence for her.

In Sydney Megan stays at various hotels and has SPG status along with Hilton and a couple of others. On this occasion, she was staying at The Sheraton on the Park in a suite for a couple of days. When I checked into the Hilton later that evening, I mentioned my flight to the checkin agent and she claimed that Megan stays at the Sydney Hilton quite often and mostly in the cheapest king room!

Without giving away our entire conversation, Megan's favourite holiday desination is Tahiti - Bora Bora resort. She had a photo shoot there which lasted a month due to inclement weather or poor lighting against the water - what a shame. And she gladly accepted my extra mini-toblerone chocolate bar from dinner when offered, but only after three insistences that I didn't want it! :D

Ms Gale politley declined my offer of sharing my limousine ride into the Sydney CBD  Apparently the agency had already organised one for her....

Magda Zubanski (Jetstar's jumping ambassador) in the QF J lounge in Brisbane last night with another lady.

I assumed that she would have been give Chairman's access given that she worked for QF (I assume Neil Perry, Mark Newson etc all have Chairman's) so I was surprised to see her there.

Ummm... I think you came pretty close ;)

And how about the marriage proposal? :p

Samiam, if you think we just chatted about flying/hotels in 1.5 hours you'd be wrong. That made up 30 minutes of discussion. The rest of which I'll leave to your imagination :p

Marriage Proposal? she couldn't afford me... hehehe. Anyway, I promise not to 'stalk' her... I'll call it 'courting'.

Okay - this is one that I texted to Liam last night but wasn't going to share with AFF - but since I am on to my second bottle - meh, that plan's out the window...

Last night after about 4 hours or so in the SYD VA Lounge waiting for my flight to MEL due to tall the Southern Australian Ash and the New Zealand Earthquakes (shout out of positive vibes to all there), I was sitting in my corner sipping away on some Squealing Pig *shock!* when a PA announcement came on:

"Mr. John Hopoate, if you are in the Lounge please approach a Virgin Australia staff member at the Lounge Service Desk please"

Now, normally I skunk away into a corner and try not to make eye contact with anyone, but after my ummm, let's call it my third glass I just couldn't help myself, and just had to say:

"Come on John. Their on call proctologist is stuck in Christchurch and you are all they've got"

Okay - so not very nice or ethical, but the communal snigger heard throughout (my corner) of the Lounge made me feel far less guilty and more deserving of my ummmm... fourth glass of vino ;)

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

"Come on John. Their on call proctologist is stuck in Christchurch and you are all they've got"

Gold:!: Same here for guilty for being unethical, but that's too funny.

All we needed then is for VA to page - as happened when I was last flying DJ - for a "Mr Benjamin Dover" to go to Baggage Blues.
