Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Not for those that booked using this thread info though, its bookings through another airlines stock or agent that are being cancelled. I am not sure three or four is a host either, and its bookings that are only hours old, not weeks.
I agree, while I understand these have related causes caused by currency changes they should not all be regarded as the same mistake fare. Silkair/SQ reaction to flights booked on their own website and flights booked and third party means different people responsible and wearing the pain and quite possibly vastly differing responses!

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I don't expect the fare to be honoured to be honest.
But in the course of searching for flights over an hour.. The prices dramatically started to increase.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

how did you book that? I have been looking at Opodo, travelocity, zuji. Gotten nowhere.

there have been reports that bt-store have cancelled some tickets. Other booking sites though seem to be ticketing. (in fact I think one guy rebooked immediately on another site when bt cancelled!)

b****r it. Everything I am seeing is over the $2,000 mark even for next year.

never mind, perhaps next time.

I tried the various Opodo sites and cheapo, vagama. I just wasn't able to see anything remotely cheap.

I just booked ...

RGN - BKK- FRA - JFK - FRA - BKK - RGN $960 USD
for Jan 2013... Lets see if it goes through.
I haven't thought about getting to RGN yet.

Tuppaware,

Do you mind sharing with me how you got a return priced up with that routing? And were there any stopovers in the itinerary?

I've found some suitable flights RGN-BKK-NRT-LAX-MIA-EZE for $350, it's just the problem of how to get back home (SYD) that is stopping me from booking!

Ooooh. Please share how you're getting South America in the itinerary. What booking engine are you using and what routing are you inputting?

Air Asia could get you home on the cheap I would think.

Or you might combine Air Asia with Scoot, I just got an email for their new Biz class SIN-SYD at $348. I too am curious where you are seeing availability, thought the deal was dead!

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Or the dreaded jet*. they do SIN-RGN for a pretty tidy sum.

I just did a return to jfk .. I tried to do stop overs but caused the price to jump. In the end i wanted to see NYC. And i dont mind doing it the long way around for the price in J.

I bookied on bt-shop but havent heard anything else other then an email. They only process 9-4 PTZ which i believe is on west coast of US, so i expect to be cancelled. Although i found it on another site as well. Its THAI metal until FRA then Delta - which was the only option that didnt include a crazy 2 days in moscow or 1:20 change in paris . I did find a return for $500usd on Condor/delta but didnt think condor J product to be up to par.

I'm thinking of ditching the last leg and getting a one way back from Bkk . Lets see if it gets ticketed first

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I've jumped in the pool too.

$580 in First Class. RGN-PEK-NRT-LAX-DFW-EZE one way - mostly on OW airlines for an earn of 510SCs.

Booked using CheapOair.com

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I've learned there's a visa issue.

Myanmar does not have multiple entry visas. The Embassy in Canberra issues only 28 day, single entry visas. (The cost is $35 and you cannot apply greater than three months before travel.)

Return travel out of Yangon will obviously require two 'visits' to Myanmar. As far as I can tell, this requires visiting a Myanmar Embassy at your destination to get a second single entry visa, before returning to Yangon.

I'm seeking advice as to any other options.
What about if one of the entries is a transit only? If you have an onward international departure on the same day, do they have a "transit" visa or a sterile transit area like Aussie international airports?

That's one of the questions I've put in an email to the Embassy. Reports on Flyertalk say that a visit is not necessary if transitting but only if you transit on the same aircraft. That is, arrive on one aircraft and depart on the very same one. Strange. That is not my situation, however.

That said, I did find this on Flyertalk - Myanmar E visa (Official Government Website). It seems hassle-free and I'm encoruaged that it has a .gov URL.

It is tempting to try and grab one of these fares, can see a fare from YGN to JFK in September for 569 pounds (A$892), another $300 or so bucks up and back from Perth.. I really want to do more of a west cost trip from say Vancouver down to LA but guess i could find some cheap flights in the US... Maybe i might have to ask the boss for another couple of weeks off later in the year on the priviso that this may occur or it may get cancelled?!?!? :) On top of the 6 weeks off i already ask for that he grumbled about a bit... :)

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Good luck to all that booked. Nearly pulled trigger on RGN-LAX-SFO one way for around $532 in J but wasn't sure on how connecting flights would work with times between flights tight on most route options and flight times it showed up. For this route it was giving me RGN-BKK-NRT-LAX-SFO. Was still working until about 4pm when I decided not to go ahead. Checked now and it is $3k now! big savings.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

RGN-JFK in First March next year $636.02 still available. Only downside is it goes via DEL to JFK with AI in First. RGN to KUL and KUL to DEL are in J.
