Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

cheapoair.com RGN to JFK on main page was working for me in DEC, JAN, FEB and MARCH in J and First. .
Which site is this still available at?

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Email from bt-shop. They cancelled mine.

Easy come, easy go. Mine via vayama was cancelled overnight. Would have been fun to fly KE 388 F but I knew I was very optimistic in getting these fares honored. Knowing KE's past behaviour (cancelling after waiting 2 months) and knowing that there have been thousands of these ex-RGN bookings in the past 36 hours, all I can only say, its very likely that there will be widespread cancellations.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

There are still flights showing to JFK. But mostly on Air India.. Which to be honest I didn't want to go on.

Its not that .. Its more that its RGN-BKK-BOM-CCU-JFK ... and return that scares me.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Had bt-shop issued you an e-ticket number before cancellation?

No. Just an email saying they process requests in American Time. According to FT its a mixed bag of some being booked and others not.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

seems to be a few fares left to the southern hemisphere..

on cheapoair ?

Yep, CheapOair.

There are apparently plenty of other options RGN-SIN-PER-xx_ including JNB and other Australian and South Pacific Destinations.

Yep, CheapOair.

There are apparently plenty of other options RGN-SIN-PER-xx_ including JNB and other Australian and South Pacific Destinations. I didn't explore too much as I was using it as an option to get back to SYD on the cheap.
I booked one along the same lines.
I got a call 5 mins after from them asking to speak to my employer to verify I am who I say I was... I said no, and cancelled the booking. 5 mins later they rang back and told me they found my info on my company's website (which it is) and said I should get an e-ticket soon.

I worry about the price $212 USD for J Class . on Silk air/ Asiana/ QF when QF alone is like over $1000 for PER-SYD.

What can go wrong?

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

tuppaware how did you force the connections, just a multi city booking with <24hrs between flights?

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Yeah, multi-trip.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Just found that there is an Australian website you can book some of these on still and at $475 for J and First heading to New York. PM if you want to know.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

It was on a fair few aussie sites this morning but the uncertainty has waved me off it. that and the costs to position. All it it would have cost me the same as QF Y for the trip that I want to do and TBH, the security of the booking and journey times make that a more appealing option.

Just to add a few other points.

Firstly, a big +1 and thanks to the OP for finding this fare.

Secondly, with the cost of positioning flights included you could look at a DM award and purchase the miles. I acknowledge that you are not going to get FF pts for these or SC, but where are you going to credit AI? I also acknowledge that there is some restriction on the routing used in that instance but its not like this is wide open anymore.

Thirdly, I have read the entire 100+ pages over on FT when this broke and there are a few comments that I wanted to make on that specifically (I do have a login for there but I cant remember the password .
a) I lol'ed at the comments about suing,
b) these fares are the result of the currency fluxuation that was mentioned here a few weeks ago, however these have only been active on the net since the first of the month as I believe that this is when the airlines updated the forex rates (based on a coversation with Thai after the Silkair fare was pulled).
c) I lol'ed again at the comments about suing, especially from the law student.

lastly, this experience has certainly opened my eyes to the weird and wonderful routes that we can take while travelling. I look foward to planning my future travels with a renewed and wider vision.
