re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I assume if it all goes wrong I can simply cancel at 100USD per booking? Or request a credit-card reversal?

Sit tight and enjoy the ride ;) If all goes to pooh a credit charge back will likely solve it all (I have screen shots of each process to assist with the process, plus the actual confirmation showing the exact price). Assuming the airline honors these bookings and you no longer wish to fly those segments, then you would have to pay the cancellation fees.

re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

FWIW folks even though the booking appears under my SQ account, when I click into it this message pops up "Please enter valid Booking reference or ticket number and Last/Family name.

An amount to the ticket amount has been taken off my credit card, so interesting days ahead.

I have the same error, however it is on MI (62) ticket stock, not SQ (61). If you retrieve booking through MI website through KF account you should be able to see the booking (I can).

At the end of the day, if they do choose to cancel & refund (well in advance of travel) I am not that fussed. Easy come easy go. Deliberately didn't book such tickets in the next few weeks in case run into such problems.

. .

(g) any booking or reservation made through the SilkAir Online booking facility that has not registered or is delayed or is in error.

They may try to claim that Danger but if the amount is charged to your CC and the booking emailed to you then its registered, not delayed and therefore cannot be in error. And I would like to see how a lawyer could argue otherwise.

This is normal with the new Krisflyer site. Even though you log in to your account, they ask for family name and reference number...My cc has been charged and as you said interesting days ahead. I am just trying to find a cheap way to get in and get out of Rangoon.

3K increased their service yesterday to 4 times a week.

I believe Air Asia fly from BKK-YGN (very short flight) as well as KUL-YGN.

There's a whole range of options,

Air Asia, Bangkok Airways, Thai ex-BKK , SQ and 3K ex-SIN, MH ex-KUL

And for those with a real sense of adventure .. there's always MAI. (Myanmar International Airways.)

It's in Myanmar. I don't recall any oneworld services there, although 3K do fly there.

Had a quick look and there were some 3K flights available!
No oneworld but Thai fly there!

Well that's frustrating.

I have now joined KrisFlyer and rang SQ to find out how to add my MI/SQ booking to my KrisFlyer profile. The agent did it, it's now showing in my account (although I can't access it as mentioned above) and the agent even allocated my seats on the four sectors.

(I haven't mentioned earlier that in addition to booking my parents I too snapped up a fare before they disappeared, as did two of my parents' friends.)

Is this loophole closed now?? I've checked many dates and no business class comes up at all??

Yes - if you had read the last few pages of the thread you would have seen it was closed around 5pm yesterday.

Ooops... I went through a few pages, but missed it. Sorry! :)

I'm kicking myself for not jumping on this yesterday. I could have cancelled by SIA Y MEL-CDG-MEL flight I booked ages ago and booked YGN-CDG-YGN-MEL all J, mostly A380 for less than $900. I could have easily made my own way to YGN to start the journey!

I wouldn't kick yourself too hard just yet. Let's wait and see if the fare is honoured.

Dam, wish I had seen this yesterday as I would have jumped on it for sure, will be interesting to see how it pans out.

As a side point after reading all 10 pages I am amazed for a frequent flying/travel website how naive people are about Myanmar or Burma (I am not going in to the politics of it). I rate it in the top 3 countries I have ever travelled to, have had an amazing time, is a very safe place and the airport is nice and new and clean. Only annoying thing is the exchanging of currency which is best done on the street for a semi decent rate considering the official rate is no where near what the real value is, and the biggest note being the equivalent of $1 USD makes for a lot of cash to be carrying!

I haven't been there but a work colleague of mine goes there all the time and loves the place. Luckily I can pick his brains when I do end up flying to Burma, assuming these fares will be honoured.
