Yes Friday sounds good... So are we now empowered to decide for the group

Saves a long discussion in here if we can decide a location over a drink on Friday...

Check your PM later.. Shintaro
As the wielder of Docs.Google, you are hereby empowered. With over 20 people coming to dinner, we need to make sure we make a booking in plenty of time. There are still a few days for everyone to provide input into the final decision.

There is always Cafe de Vili's if things fall through for a pie floater fix, pity the old mobile outlet at the front of sky city is no longer there!

Love a good Vilis. But sadly they just don't seem as good as they used to.

Chaos at Adelaide Airport today. No taxis. Currently we have the dregs of the V8 race departing, cruise ship Voyager, the Festival of Arts and The Fringe. So today they decided to implement a new system. Hot so long a wait they started handing out water bottles. It's also very hot here. But all this will be gone by April.

Markis10, are you coming...?

Me thinks your suggestion is really only suitable for late night snack ~2am after drinking my way through your minibar

Will confirm late next week, nesting a QF81 trip into a walkabout is the plan.

Nope. Late night snack = greasy yiros. But yes, he is surely joking for a dinner.

LOL, I was thinking last resort to kill the hunger pains, and don't you mean souvlaki/kebab, whoops, sorry, had the eastern states hat on LOL! I have fond memories of being a semaphore resident ;).

I couldn't make it on this weekend so I'm doing my own private QF81 farewell run on April 4th - can guest one to F lounge in SYD if anyone happens to be on the same flight :)

Just to provide clarification for eastern members:

Gyros: pita bread with meat and salad in it, preferable served after midnight.
Floater: Balfours pie sitting in pea soap, preferably served after 3am

Prices don't look too bad. The secret room only seats 14, though. We are at least 22, so the Shanghai room might be a better option (up to 40)

Maybe a Chinese banquet could be organised?

I don't care where we eat - Gouger street has some excellent choices, but with AFL derby (thanks for heads up) booking would be advantageous methinks...

There are 20 Chinese restaurants on gouger street...care to put a name to your suggestion...

Gouger Street Chinese Restaurants | Urbanspoon

Because without your input, I have a 1 in 20 guess at getting it right which place you are talking about  and your vote / input counts...!

Not trying to be silly here, but if you have a place in mind please speak up

Mr & Mrs munitalP will be attending

We will be found in 25 A&B on QF81 and ATM 6 A & C QF764 (Sunday)

We are staying at the Hilton, AP is very good at the moment and will go with the flow dinner wise - I vote Chinese at one of many excellent restaurants in Gougar Street, my personal Fav being Wah Hing (Wah Hing - Gouger Street - Adelaide | Urbanspoon) :-)

Will need guest Bigpete (thanks Medhead) and I believe Oz_mark (+1?)

Can't wait :)

PS - planning a Panda trip for Sunday if anyone else is interested

There's a crowd of us at the Hilton - I vote (again) for Gouger St and Wah Hing (or similar) Chinese (5 mins max walk)- I have eaten here previously a couple of times and it is V Good. So, why not drinkies (as if we hadn't had enough!) at the Hilton, see what we can do about guesting into the lounge or just enjoy a couple at the bar, then walk over to a restaurant?

As I said in a previous thread, I'm happy to go with the flow, but I must admit I would prefer to eat local, especially after a big day in the F lounge :P

Shintaro10x - you must have forgotten - you liked post #1

Hi guys, sorry but I'm not going to be able to get to the dinner. Happy to answer any questions about the Rockpool event at the FLounge or onboard.

Finally have got around to locking in my return flights (same day due to instructions from a higher authority)

QF81 arrives at 13:55

Flying back to Sydney via the scenic route...

QF690 to MEL @ 15:30 then QF458 to SYD

Just a heads up... It will be a big AFL day in ADL on Sun 14th April with the local derby Crows vs Port on at AAMI Stadium at 4pm It could mean a bit of traffic around and maybe a shortage of taxis for those that are planning to leave ADL Sun afternoon / evening. Just thought it was worth a mention . If i had the Monday off I would have considered staying for the match .

Further to this, the opening of the new plaza area at ADL seems to be accompanied by some taxi issues. Despite the cruise ships having departed, there was a 20-30 wait last night off-peak. This may be normal for other airports, but not so for little ol' Adelaide. Hopefully not a long term problem. So, if we notify the Flounge, notify the pilot to do a general welcome to the AFF group, notify the Hilton, maybe ADL airport should be warned? :-). Particularly if the group is in PJs :-)
