While I was unable to attend, I have been watching this thread keenly for weeks in the lead up to the event, watching it grow exponentially from a mere suggestion to a fully-fledged event. We should all be grateful for the efforts of all involved, as this has surely helped promote the AFF name and cause. Hats off to Jess and everyone who took part, it looked like a great event!

Wow, there are a lot of faces I don't know from the photos, so that's a good thing - AFF'ers getting out and about.

Nice to see the bottle of Penfolds in front of you and medhead, shintaro10x.

For the record it was a 2005 Penfolds 389 & 2004 Penfolds 407 (please correct me if wrong medhead)

Both were very nice, my liver had a good work-out that day

And thanks to both of you for sharing.

Three days of bubbles before 9am - I think I need a couple of AFDs at least.

I should be the one thanking you...! Guesting x2 meant you provided me much, much more than a couple of glasses in the Flounge & Exec lounges.

Was nice to meet your mum too, looked like she really enjoyed the night too

Just a final comment . Points posted this afternoon for my VA427 flight from yesterday . I received 20SC instead of 10 and on the flight i received a meal as though I was on a flexi fare . Nice bonus.

Mrs Paddy went to Silver, for the first time, and is somewhat pleased with herself :)

"25 SCs by end Sep for 5000 point Loyalty Bonus - what's that about?" :)

"225 Scs to Gold - what do I get for that?"

"Why didn't you get me JASAs for SYD-Europe return instead of AAdvantage Awards?":shock:

Mmmm

On topic: As someone who was going to join the trip and had to drop out, I'm very envious after reading this thread.

You're not the only one. I would have rather been at the dinner at home meeting all these wonderful people than being in Beijing. :(

Looks like it was a great weekend!

Hopefully it won't take another death in the family to get everyone together!

Back at the airport this morning and its rather chilly, that means cold. Looks like the timing for last weekend was just about perfect.

Oh dear, what have you created :D

I thought the same when my wife said "I can get used to this...." when we checked in at the Westin and got a suite, after having flown in business longhaul..... :(

Oh, quite right!

Mrs Paddy won't fly long haul Y or PE anymore, and quite like the Suite we were upgraded to as well :)

When I was describing the MCO-DFW-DEN-DFW-LAX-LHR-FRA-LHR part of my DONE4 planned for next month she rolled her eyes... she's not ready for that yet

you have to work them up to SC runs slowly, learned that the hard way, I made the mistake of doing a SYD ADL BNE MEL SYD NAN SYD MEL BNE SYD with SWMBO in 5 days and she was not impressed and was getting homicidal when going via SYD to get back to SYD the same day... :D

I've got a long way to go. Got half way through explaining the concept of a AFF "do" triggered by the demise of a QF route and realised Ms Shearsense was looking at me as though I had lost her at the first mention of the AFF community board in the first sentence. Certainly not going to grasp the concept of a SC run (especially through the same city on the same day) anytime soon. Mind you, she never got the novelty concept of being personally greeted by name by the CSM until she experienced it sitting beside me in Y.

Just returned to GC after a fantastic weekend & extension in ADL & surrounds.

A change of plans last week from SIN & bit of late juggling with VA out of OOL & certainly touch & go with the rains on Saturday & typical antiquated OOL facility, fortunately we winged it to ADL in due time for the desired Drinks & Dinner event.

Many, many thanks to the organisers & a special accolade to JessicaTam for the fine tuning & leadership qualities, clearly & consistently executed.

Shintaro, Great choice for restaurant recommendation & lovely food.

The best part was having the opportunity to share some great food, drinks & stories in pleasant surroundings amongst like minded people in person & put faces to names.

One of the Hilton lounge staff asked during the drinks - Are we from the same Company?.. Well: Sort of ! ...I exclaimed.. ;)

We managed the extend our stay & for the past days enjoying the fine ADL weather visiting Glenelg, Handorf, Adelaide Hills & several fantastic wineries & cuisine around Barossa Valley.
The Penfolds winery tour in Magill was superb & have returned with excess quantities of wine delicacies from all parts the Adelaide region.

Look forward to the next great AFF event.. :D

Much to my surprise I have scored an invitation to the QF ADL function.

Now where can I get a "Bring Back QF81" badge made, I wonder?

Me too. Not that I spend much time in Adelaide, despite it being on my QF profile. My chance to make some points about QF81 as well, so I should make the effort

Anna, please pass this on for me...

Dear Qantas,

If you want my opinion on your decision to kill off QF81 / QF82, then I am available at Adelaide Airport on June 11th where I am booked on SQ278 direct ADL to SIN. I can no longer be loyal to you on this route since there is no longer a Qantas product for me to be loyal to. I was also not impressed with the email you sent me telling me how the Qantas routes were improved into Asia and how I should be impressed with this being an ADL pax losing direct route access.

Fact is that when flying I am 100% loyal to Qantas if there is a Qantas product available at a reasonable price, however I do ask why you think I should maintain this position when there is no longer a Qantas option. I guess you won't mind at all if all us ADL pax now take your lead and abandon your domestic product from ADL.

Thankfully there are carriers such as SQ which are growing their business here in ADL moving to 12 direct flights a week, I will add that if there is ever a SQ (or SQ owned) domestic product here in ADL, then I will reward their loyalty to me, by rewarding them.... makes sense, why reward Qantas for abandoning me...?

Thank you Qantas, hope you are listening...!
