Back to the daily grind today..... but have good memories from the weekend...

Paddy, great photos, thanks for posting them up so quickly... Mrs Shintaro was very impressed with the groups activity over the weekend, perhaps I shall sign her up as an AFF in her own right

As usual I've been slack. It was great to catch up with and meet everyone over the weekend.

SWMBO also enjoyed meeting people at dinner and was very happy with the advice for next year's holiday plans.

Cheers all

Even though I wasn't able to attend, just want to also Thank Jessica for organising this, it's really good when someone can pull together an event like this and I take my hat off to you and others for their hard work.
I think AFF events are some of the best events I've ever been to, kind of a 'money can't experiences' such as the Inaugural QF flight to OOL which I went on Oct last year.

I really enjoyed reading the updates throughout the weekend and still hope to attend the AFF gathering later in the year!

QF 81 points & SC posted ok and QF 862 poisnts and SC posted ok missing QF 82. I rang FF and she asked the question did anything happen to flight so I did reply yes it was the last one ever lol. Very helpful though at FF and said if not posted by Wednesday will do it manually. Typical though its the 30 SC's I need for my last 8000 points bonus.

My QF82 haven't posted either, but 81 was there by the time we checked into the hotel.

I can understand mine not posting as I am Platinum but how rude is QF for not positing yours after all you are a Silver Frequent Flyer. (make sure you get 60SC as you were an op up and Silver FF)

I am glad everyone had such a great time (says he looking on with envy).

I'm still disappointed at not being there but at least Sue is now OK.

I was able to speak with the staff on both QF81 and 82, as well as the lounge staff at ADL. They are sad that the flight has finished. There has been no formal recognition of the flight being dropped as far as most of them are concerned. Just a change in rosters that don't include traveling to ADL! The ADL staff have already noticed a drop in patronage as a result of QF dropping their only direct flight to Asia. SQ are moving to 14 flights a week so the market is there, QF just don't seem to want it.

Some of the staff on the two flights:

QF81
Captain Gordon Taylor
CSM Brett South

QF82
Captain Peter Huuk
CSM Simon Gobran
CSS Brad Kewley

The same aircraft travelled from SYD-ADL-SIN and then SIN-ADL-SYD:
VH-QPC, Broken Hill.

I would like to thank all the staff who made both flights and lounges an absolute pleasure.

SYD Flounge was extremely busy when we arrived as QF11 had been delayed, and there had been a cancellation the day before. The lounge staff managed very well getting meals and drinks out promptly. Leonie was very understanding when due to traffic delays guests and guestors did not always arrive together.

QF81 took off about 25 minutes late, but the champagne was soon flowing - even to some 'down the back' in plastic glasses! There were multiple announcements from the flight deck and the CSM mentioning AFF so we may pick up a member or two. MunitalP had started a First menu doing the rounds in SYD for signatures. I made sure it did the rounds of the cabin and flight crew as well. They were all very obliging. Thank you to Brett for the very special souvenir of the flight he gave me.

QF82 on Sunday departed half an hour late, but unfortunately made up some time in the air. Once again we got a mention or two over the PA. The menu did the rounds, including the Paxing flight crew from the SIN-ADL leg. The service was top notch again, and I am sure glasses were still being topped up as were being told to prepare for landing! We were kindly provided with J pyjamas as a memento of our flight.

***

But of course the weekend would not have been the same without everyone who shared it. Whether it was on QF81 or 82, or just for dinner in Adelaide. I am humbled at the enthusiasm that everyone showed for my crazy idea barely two months ago. Thanks PLCfor the impetus, Medhead for the Friday drinks and the ADL bus and Shintaro10x for helping choose the ADL restaurant.

QF81 and 82 will be missed in ADL, but this weekend will not be forgotten for a long time to come.

What a ride!

Jessica, all of the people mentioned above were, I suggest ably lead and supported by you as you coordinated the organisation of this magnificent event.

Your engagement of the various Qantas staff at different locations really added that extra touch of perfection and enjoyment to this magnificent event.

Thank you doesn't seem enough and barely covers the enjoyment of the weekend.

Wow, there are a lot of faces I don't know from the photos, so that's a good thing - AFF'ers getting out and about.

Nice to see the bottle of Penfolds in front of you and medhead, shintaro10x.

OT for this thread (sorry) but Lindsay Wilson, you must now update your sector count in batches of 10 for a while - you will cover the entire 7x7 series quite nicely! :p
