Feedback on the Xenforo 2.1 Upgrade

This is as designed. Watching a thread on Xenforo sends an alert when a new post is made, but not subsequent posts unless you have checked the thread. It will only ever send one alert per thread.

Maybe didn't explain properly, I'm not always getting a notification for the first post subsequent to me reading the thread.

Happens occasionally for me, but just read through to the absolute latest post and then it should start triggering again.

Mr Reichlin, now that I've used the new font for a few weeks, it's fairly easy on the eyes which is good.

How the 'like' or other button that one can press now shows up with its name on the right hand side another good change.

I'd prefer that the actual number of views be shown on the indices rather than just '19K.' One finds the actual number by doing a search but this is coughbersome. Sometimes it may be interesting to observe if in the last week, 10 more have viewed a thread or 100 more.

The moderators are quite fast to act, which is something that may not always be the case on every travel (not just aviation) site.

Thanks for the feedback and good to hear that you are generally happy with the changes :)

Regarding you suggestion about displaying the number of views - the exact number of views is certainly available (as you have noted), but there are spacing issues when the number of views exceeds 1,000. Hence the abbreviation on the forum home page.

I continue to have a little problem that irks me.When I post a comment it gets changed for example a recent post on the View From my Office on the St.Peter's Canal which I had typed in the name just like that.but on the thread on 2 computers and a phone it appears like this-
St.Peter'sal
Now I go to edit and there is the original still the same so click save and the right name appears for a few seconds then reverts to the above.Same if I use the refresh symbol.
It is a recurrent problem.

I don’t see a difference? Perhaps you can take a screenshot of the edit window with how you see it after typing and then a second screenshot of how it looks when saved? That might be clearer.

Edit: The word is cänäl. I wonder if our profanity filter has incorrectly identified the word.

Canal. Canal. Canal.

St. Peter’s Canal. St.Peter’s Canal.

From the mobile office this morning.St.Peter's Canal,Nova Scotia.

Edit 2: Cannot replicate problem.

Edit 3: Intermittent.

To late to edit now but was definitely St.Peter's Canal,Nova Scotia initially and when I went to edit.

It is something that has been recurring but only time to time.

Is there any way to set a default to open the "New Posts" page without the profile posts? They seem mostly irrelevant and disjointed (much like channel surfing on TV). There is a "New Profile Posts" link at the vtop of the page for visitors that want to avail themselves of this (dubious IMHO) feature.

Bookmark the following URL: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/whats-new/posts/

Make sure you bookmark that exact URL, not what happens when you type that into a browser and hit return/enter. As visiting that URL will start a search for you done at exactly that time and the URL will change to a fixed point in time (when you hit return).

E.g. https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/whats-new/posts/123456/ where 123456 is a unique identifier for what search number that was.

I tend to watch the threads I am interested in and so I will then go to watched unread threads and I find that useful

The only other suggestion that I think I've mentioned before is a link to threads created in a certain time frame ie that day or that week

But it's still a great forum anyway even if sometimes I waste way too much time on it

I got a notification today someone had replied to my post - but it wasn't my post - nothing to do with me???

I'm not sure if anything has happened with the forum software recently but it would appear that any style I choose appears to display the same "app" style list of threads.

Is there any way of getting the old classic display back?

Hi Clifford or Mattg, some emailed notifications of an additional post (by another AFFer) on a subject to which I've contributed seem to take a number of hours, or occasionally almost a day, to reach my email inbox.

AFAIK this isn't occurring with other websites.

Is this likely to be a problem at my PC's end, or are you aware of it at yours?

Nothing has changed.

What device are you on? I don't understand what an "app" style list of threads looks like, you may need to include a screenshot.

That sounds like an issue with our email deliveries, but I believe that's a third party. Perhaps there was some lag recently.

Everything is different since beginning this month including the reply box.

I'm on a Samsung S7 and accidentally changed colour schemes but I'm not sure why this would include a change to the display format.

I realise you probably don't have photos of how it was before, but can you describe the differences and include a screenshot of your current reply box to help illustrate this point?

I see you are most likely browsing in a dark mode. This wouldn't affect the layout, but could result in strange colours as things get inverted to display better. Readability and the like.

You could try clicking the below highlighted button to change some settings, I see the display you are viewing under is a mobile interface, useful for smaller screens where screen real estate is important.
