Runways 16 L and R both in use at the moment.

Someones dassault just landed on 16L.

OGM and OGU both currently at gates here in SYD.

Another 763 over in a hanger but I cannot see the rego clearly from here. Could be OGO

TripleB, hope you have been able to OLCI by now.
Trick is if the booking has a return, you have to do T-24 for that second booking,

Unless they have changed it recently that's not true. I've been able to check in when the return flight is more than 24 hours away (on same day flights). Also that doesn't apply if the return flight is the following day.

I have one flight on this PNR and i cannot do an OLCI, but i am getting my BP at the J lounge anyway.

Sitting in the Syd J lounge now, about to board the SYD to MEL sector shortly,

QF767 currently set for Gate 3. Well it's a large-ish area but never really liked this gate personally. Currently no arrival gate posted.

This has been the case since late July, and has been well documented by a number of us on here.

May I suggest that any/all of us coming into the J lounge @ MEL try to take the prized corner area overlooking Gate 3? For obvious reasons :)

At least as a generalised meeting area of sorts.

I'll be in a long sleeve blue top and possibly a "Plane Crazy Down Under" cap :)

Just been informed SBS will have a crew on hand (since I was asked if I might say a few words post flight - gulp!). I suspect if SBS can cover it, the majors will be.....

So, another happy ending. Sounds like a fun time was had.

Enjoy the trip and festivities everyone. :) I will be watching the final departure from the aircraft viewing area later this afternoon.

Looks like Rwy 16 would be used in MEL later this afternoon so it would afford some excellent viewing and photo opportunity.

Some updates.
Just spoke to the lovely Sarah from SBS. They are actually doing a pre-flight story, and won't be on it or in SYD.
She says there's apparently a QF Presser at 3pm but she doesn't have confirmed details on that (may be interesting to see)
She's also interested to talk to anyone who is out there specifically to be on this flight, just to ask about how it feels to be on it, how excited we are and what it means etc. As you'd expect a light item set to air on the 6:30pm news tonight (which is when, give or take, the flight will be landing0.

So if anyone's interested in chatting to her (I did mention I knew of others who would be on the flight) then we can figure something ou from say 1330ish I believe they will be out there.

I don't think the angle is "av geeks see final flight" just why the 767 has been important in Australian service (QF) and how we'll miss it kind of thing.

ODU for QF435 down to Melbourne successful.

Now can see OGO in the foreground, OGT in the background.

Staff I have chatted to seem quite sad about the retirement of the 767.

QF767's FO is the most senior 767 FO at QF, who also happens to be the wife of well known aviator Owen Zupp.

I'm not sure who the Captain is.

Landed successfully in Melbourne and got a coughpit viewing and talked a bit to the crew. Now off to Southern cross for lunch.

What time does it land in Sydney? We might meet?

Is it QF767 at 1825? Hmmm. Already in international. Will try for a pix though.

Looks like VH-OGL will be our aircraft for QF767. Was on OGL for QF508 and 517 this morning (SYD-BNE return); crew said that was the one which would operate the final flight. OGL also operated the 1300 down to Melbourne.

Positioning down to MEL shortly and will be in the Club for a little while.
