FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

When I first got Select I was Citigold which means ann fee 1/2 at $350 - but they charged me $700 - I queried it and they refunded something like $525 or so and then was never charged ann fee again and was no longer Citigold either. :confused:

FTR: I didn't call them to alert them to above. :lol:
 
Just called them to book Melbourne - they need 24 hours to get back to me. Hope I don't miss the deadline

word in this thread was that you could book a hotel for next year using this year's benefit, but that they couldn't see anything past March. i'm interested to hear any more about this.

I'm making a complaint to FOS about this benefit after trying about 10 times to book it and getting no availability. Will let you know what the fall out is but from what I know this is the only thing that can get banks to follow through on what they promise.

More specifically I have 24 pages of correspondence trying to book a hotel. The main issues are:

- They only have rates loaded until March
- 24 hour turnaround time to get availability
- Each date I have tried for there is no availability or only at the worst hotel listed ie metro on Pitt
- From what I could find out it's up to the hotel to release availability on the specific date and so they don't unless they are empty etc

I asked for a list of all dates available for the Sofitel Sydney in January and even though I live in the city will stay there for a night. My guess is that they don't want to pay the redemption rate for that hotel but regardless not coming back with availability furthers the complaint to FOS. Alternatively I've asked that they refund the pro rate annual fee ($233) that I paid when switching to the card. My complaint is around false advertising on this page The Citi Prestige Credit Card where they don't properly disclose that it's up to each hotel to provide availability as well as how limited the availability is.

Anyone who is expecting big things from the free hotel night is likely to be disappointed and it's been a real pain to book several months in advance to the point that it's close to unusable.

We used the free night stay at the Sofitel Sydney last Saturday night. I booked not long after conversion from Select to Prestige. They even had NYE available at the time (the Mrs didn't go for it as we have young kids).

Im holding out to book NYC mid 2015. Guess too far in advance or would've tried to use this year's stay for that trip (2 nights free) as I live in Sydney.
 
I was unable to book a night I wanted in Hong Kong in April, same story with dates only loaded until March. So I called the customer service line and escalated it to a supervisor, asking for a partial fee reversal to compensate.

I was initially offered 2000 points, then the supervisor offered 10000. I still wasn't satisfied and told her so, and she called back this morning to say she'd received approval to refund half ($350) the annual fee.

Given that's worth more than the night I was trying to book, happy days.
 
Yeah 10000 is only worth about 50 bucks right? If I get half I'd be happy but I think the fair amount is about 200-250.

I guess they are banking on a large number of people not booking it or they haven't realised their supplier isn't very good as yet.

Booked my 2014 night a few days ago for hong Kong tonight. Easy and took less than 24 hrs to confirm. They did advise me I could book now for any time up til end march as 'part of the 2014 benefit'.

I'm not sure what incremental benefit Accor Plat has ever really gotten me. You should ask them to honour the Hilton Gold benefits....
