FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

just missed a payment by mistake (forgot to update a regular transfer) on a substantial monthly bill. Ouch! Be careful people, be a transactor not a revolver.

If you usually always pay your monthly statement in full, it would be worthwhile for you to call Citibank and explain that you made a mistake and ask if they could reverse the interest charges this time. If you have a good history and have already paid the statement balance now, there is a good chance they will do this for you. I have done it once before with Citibank with success.

Ah huh - ball park figures USD4/km and that's disregarding any initial booking / flag fall fee - not at all attractive.

Well, I guess it can't hurt to try. I have recently changed banks, and accidentally scheduled a transfer from a dormant account (with zero dollars in). Net result: dishonor fee for my savings account, big interest charge from citibank.

I can confirm that Citibank will waive the fee if you have good payment history with them.

This has been done for me on 1-2 occasions :)

gmatch,

Can you please confirm two things for me:

1) do they complete another credit/veda check for you? if you are an existing customer?

2) have you physically received the points yet? in Citirewards/qantas

Yup you simply make a new from scratch application for the prestige card, they also acknowledged that I was already a sig cardholder, but bonus still applies

Also I note the income requirements has increased to $150,000

It was originally $120,000

This must be the highest income requirement card besides amex centurion (invite only. min spend requirements)?

Amex plat charge card is only $100,000

pretty sure the change in the income requirements came about when they brought out the prestige to replace the select... another option is to join citigold but that's a whole different bunch of things you'll need to do there.

if i can help
1- i had another veda check ran on my account - saw it in my veda history (i subscribe for the plan) . i spoke to the credit underwriter at citi who told me even if i had chosen to request for a credit limit increase to upgrade the card vs apply for a new line of credit a veda check would have been run anyway

2 - i received my points as a new line of credit - hope gmatch has too

Yes I was a little nervous about this as t + c clearly state new citi card customers only. I called and was assured that if I made a new application the points would post. So I did and 2 months later after you pay the annual fee, pts are in account :) not sure on Veda status sorry but did have to provide financials again

Follow up from my previous post re additional fee for 'Free' Airport Transfer - response from Citi Prestige:

Dear Mr. Elite

Thank you for your reply.

I do understand that 72USD is expensive for the additional mileage and you are not happy with it, and I am really sorry for that. Our supplier (YQ) is charging about 5USD per kilometre for the distance exceeding the free allocation.

The original idea for this benefit is to provide transfer between city and airports, that's why in Melbourne the allocation is 30 kms. If you are travelling a lot in Asia Pacific area, I would suggest you to use this benefit in other cities during your travel, as for those cities which are far from their airports, this service would be a good value.

Please see below some examples for allocations for distance in other cities:

Osaka - 51kms
Tokyo Narita - 85kms
Tokyo Haneda - 25kms
Kuala Lumpur - 58kms
Shanghai Pudong - 44kms

I do hope the above information would help. Should you need any further assistance, please do let me know and I will be more than happy to help.

Kindest regards,

Gee Asia meant to be second class..... That makes Australia third class civilisation via Citi kms!!!
America being 1 st class of course!

CE,

I made this mistake last year when travelling japan.

We stayed in Tokyo CBD (Ginza), and we missed our bullet train to the airport.

I thought it would be a good idea if we took a cab to Tokyo Narita airport so we didnt miss our flight.

Big mistake, it took even longer and was very expensive. about $370.00 AUD.

Japan has one of the most expensive taxi's in the world.

Also, I missed my flight so had to book an airport hotel and re-book flights!

Distance in Miles

1 GBP= 1.95 AUD

Japan = 191.48 GBP * 1.95 = $374 AUD

Tokyo being the most expensive airport taxi / city ride.

Tokyo taxis aren't that bad, about the same price as Perth. Or Perth is quite bad, which is probably more accurate.

But it's just the airport distance, and not that their taxis are overly pricey, really.

Further clarification from Citi as to why it is stated 2pcs checked luggage max but up to 4 pax permitted in any one transfer

Dear Mr. Elite,

Thanks for your email.

The car type for this benefit is Mercedes E-class or equivalent, which can accommodate two pieces of checked luggage. As long as your luggage can fit in the trunk of the car, there will not be any problems.

For hand bags, you can always keep them with you. However please note that our supplier is not allowing passengers to put suitcases on the seats as they might damage the seats.

Should you need any further assistance, do let me know and I will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

So on the one hand 2pcs max not really a max - provided your luggage fits in boot you are ok.
BUT:
1. I never take Limo transfers to airport - do any of these supposed Limo type cars run on gas with gas tank in boot?
2. If you have carry on luggage being 4 wheel rollers then I guess they won't permit them inside cabin of car with you so now boot is kinda starting to get very crowded.
3. So how rigid will service provider be when they turn up to collect you? Boot cannot accommodate your bags - are you screwed?
Any experience from others?

can you request a van instead of a car?
Not that I am aware and no way I am travelling in a van - simply book a station wagon taxi.

My imputed value of this benefit from home to MEL is only $40 - that is what it costs me for a taxi in PVG so I might just use my 2 x transfers there - but disappointing the benefit coold be unusable here.

See my previous post #449. We booked the limo service from HKG and had 3 large suitcases, a stroller, a portable cot, 2 4-wheeler cabin luggage bags, a baby bag and my wife's handbag, and we fitted into a sedan with luggage piled into the front footwell and seat, plus the rear middle seat. No additional charges were ever levied, and I would have refused to pay them had they been.
