FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Something is amiss here ...I have been making some payments from my Citi from here in OZ and the rates that I've been getting are pretty good.
13/08/16 - 0.769
10/8/16 - 0.742
3/8/16 - 0.741
only aberration in 0.728 on 31/7/16

If you add in a 3.4% international transaction fee - they seem to be good rates.

Ouch 0.7318 is a really cough exchange rate when the real rate was 0.77. I won't do that ever again despite the Kris Miles earning.

I was pleased it was paying a very small trolley of Costco goods.
My US credit cards for earning points/miles are Amex and MasterCard and US Costco take neither.....only Visa now..

Shouldn't these be posted in 'A Bit of Humour Thread'? Let me remind you - there is this dude who gets gazillions of KF pts for next to nuthin' via ATO pmts to fly himself, his lovely lady wife and all rest his family around the world in R/F on SQ - owns apartments in LAX and LHR - and he comes on here whingin' about droppin' a coupla bucks on Citi exchange rates on a very small trolley of Costco goods! Well it tickled my fancy anyway! ;)

Note: Gotta come to WA next month or so cove so best we make sure you are going to be in town when I book flts.

Brazilion points and miles CE. It is Olympic times.
It is ok because I scored some Kris miles CE. Citi say 3.4% fee......
I will be in MEL for a week September 15th to 22nd.
Going to a concert so I am outta here.

Bummer - we are in US Sep 20 to Oct 6 - missing GF so no Olive Tree post GF this year - just checked diary and it will be Oct b4 I can get there - via Prestige pts > VA (better keep OT)

With Essendon and Fremantle Dockers both being cellar dwellers we have decided to go to Sydney at grand final time. Mrscove runs with a Citi Prestige for Qantas points so she is loaded. Out of love and affection I bought her Tumi international carry on luggage which is made of some space age plastic to combat mishandling.
CE I use a US Amex instead of an Australian Citi Prestige for US hotels and restaurants and I can direct the warehoused points to Kris Flyer out of their quite generous Premier Rewards deal. There is usually a compelling deal to get you signed up (if you can qualify).
The head of Treasury Wines is in our building in Los Angeles but he is rarely here.
There is a brand new Rolls Royce next to our little red Nissan Sentra hire car which we got thru Argus/Enterprise combination. I took the $90 US insurance for the 9 day hire using the Argus/Allianz deal.
The Nissan drives surprisingly well and the Kia Optima was good for the previous hire.
Generally we have the cheapest car in the whole car park but I still go to the full service station to get everything checked and I put in the highest octane gasoline so I can keep up.

Another trip to Costco in the US and the exchange rate of .7650 made me smile. So one way too low and one quite high.

I have generally had good exchange rates with the Citi Visa Signature card. pretty close to what XE states.

FYI, i have bit the bullet and applied for the Citi Prestige.

Is there a list of benefits somewhere here i need to make sure I apply for to ensure full value?

Does anyone know if I book a service such as the complimentary hotel or limo while I have the card for a date after the card expires whether it's still possible to use the service?

I can answer my own question now that I've booked a limo while I had the card and used it since I cancelled it.

I just tried to book a limo from my place to Melbourne Tullamarine, something I did twice last year with Citi. This time I find that I am 3km outside the complimentary area now that it's been reduced to 25km. They wanted US$22 for those extra 3km.

In the end I booked the limo to the CBD. I was very fortunate to have an understanding driver who dropped me home anyway. What a great gesture.

FYI - I called up to get my annual fee halved on Friday (like I have done every year for 4 years straight) only to be told that they wouldn't waive the fee. So I paid out the account and moved all the reward points and called up to cancel it.....they waived it in the end (I think they thought I wouldn't close it).

My spend is ~$120k pa

I called up today apparently according to the relationship manager I got on the phone I had spent >$1m in the last year. They offered me $50 discount citing is received $350 discount the previous year. Told them I'd think about it. It's a no brainer either way that I'll keep it - best all round card in my portfolio. Guess Citi's been squeezed as far as they can now if they're digging in with the fee waivers policy.
I'm not sure how far to take it as I don't want to close it so don't want to pay it out & risk closure.

I totally agree. My spend is up around that as well. I tried everything to get bonus points and fee waiver and nada. I didn't really think of closing it because it is still the best earner around. If someone has a better one, let me know.

They do have more info about the earned points transaction these days but still very confusing.

On a separate point, what is the max someone has overpaid? I went to 50k over but was too worried to go any further.

Hi Moindardt,

I would be interested to find out more about the " More info earned points transaction" as i always find it challenging to to work out if my points earn is correct.

Cheers

Looks like we need to push it to the wire to get a reaction.

Too risky if we are half keen to retain it.

Under the rewards area you get your points dashboard. Click on a full points statements.

Try that legroom. We ain't getting anything without pushing with Citi.

Another pointer that I was given (from a guy who works with Citi call centre) - after I got my fee reduced was that "if you have points lying in your account and throw them these cancellation threats - they are just that and they are more likely to push back with lesser incentives".

So please clean up your account before you go on about asking to cancel the Prestige.

That's a good point kimster. I cleared my warehouse in the devaluation (then got devalued by 12% by VFF's private equity owners) and again with the double HHonours offer earlier this year. Been accumulating points in the warehouse hoping for a repeat of that offer. Was quite good value. Otherwise HHonours points not that exiting as I like to stay in the more expensive properties.
