First Qantas A220 revealed

My A220 and 737 flights between MEL and CBR on 23 and 24 June have both been swapped to 717. Flight number for the first flight is still A1276 despite not being on an A220.
Same - was booked for a mid June MEL-CBR A220 flight. Was looking forward to trying the new A220 business class but alas now on a 717.

Wonder if they’ve decided to move the A220 to other routes.

Looks like the equipment has come in as de-planing in MEL yesterday was done through both the front and rear doors, so I assume boarding was the same.

I liked the wireless charging which worked well for me but overall did not find the J seat very comfortable, prefer the 737 seat more.
Same.

A220 J/CL underwhelming.

Tend to agree bar the availability of wifi and usb ports - specially C for power (the lack of unibetsal power in J os baffling though, though mslany newer laptops can power from ISB-C these days.

The actualy 717 J seats are probably a little more comfy, but the amenity of power and wifi makes the 220 better when considering the mission.

I am sure QF is really not happy at the delays and issues. 717's were supposed to be gone sooner ratger than later. Clearly not going to happen now.

Sort of mirrors the issues with the A380. The largest and the smallest planes both the same impact on customers.

@Mattg - nice review of this aircraft. We will be flying it on AC from YYZ to SJO - 5 hours plus flight each way. We booked Y on the outbound (cost $600 pp) and J on the inbound (J cost double Y pp). We hope it will be a nice plane.

Hi Myrna, we flew YYZ to YQT in May 2023 and had a brand new A220 - I was amazed as I didn't expect it nor had looked up what aircraft I had booked (too much in my mind, usually, I even change my booking for eg, A350 vs B777 etc). It was a pretty good economy experience and Air Canada are very good hosts!

Thanks, lepetitprince. Good to know.
It was a strange experience booking the flights with AC. Firstly, we booked the inbound SJO - YYZ in J because the Y fares were slightly more expensive than the J fare 😕 Then we tried to book the outbound YYZ - SJO in Y, but when we were ready to book the Y fares had gone up (maybe they tracked our searching activities so they bumped up the fares by C$200). We thought that was ridiculous, so we gave up and checked again the next day. Lo and behold, the Y fares were back to where they were, so we jumped in and booked.

Does anyone know what’s going on with X4B? Seems to be grounded in Melbourne since Monday. Am travelling on QF1274 in 3 weeks and hope it doesn’t get switched to 717

We just took our first A220 flight this arvo - QF1257 BNE-MEL. Ms Basalt was very underwhelmed by the no-recline seat! I like the handy smartphone shelf and the USB-C port is nice to see, though at 60w, it's short of the business standard of 65w (e.g. Surface Pro and a whole bunch of Dell and HP business grade laptops)
Ms Basalt was also miffed at the lack of IFE "on a brand-new plane FFS" (her words )

Edit: forgot to add, the plane was delayed 'as the technicians were still looking at it'....

Is there no wi-fi IFE? !! on the A220 ??! Surely this is incorrect.

On the same flight!

Did you notice the whistling noise every 5 or so seconds which lasted around 1-2 seconds? Wasn’t upsetting but was noticeable and not confidence inspiring given the reason for the delay 😅

I put my Bose NC headphones on the second I sit down, so was blissfully unaware of that noise! Forgot to add it was nice to see wine served in Y on an early afternoon flight, wasn’t expecting that so we’d fully taken advantage of the J lounge bar though 😎
