PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Can someone please post loadings for EK419 SYD-BKK on 18 September?

There was an economy award seat available earlier today but that has disappeared. Only First class available now. Purchasing the flight outright costs ~$750.

I need to travel that evening and have tried every route possible without luck. No availability on MH or CX via Qantas. There is availability on JQ/3K via DRW which suits.

Nothing on SQ either.

I really need to travel that night. Can anyone think of anything I may have missed?

Thanks Quickstatus. Flight looks to be wide open in economy yet the airfare is relatively expensive and award availability gone.

Peak period is one week later. School and Uni holidays commence around the 23 September so probably a shoulder period?

Even BI is around the same price but does not operate via SYD.

U fares are available if you are prepared to splurge on points.

Only F is available on that flight and I just don't want to part with 90,000 QFF points for 1 flight.

As a Platinum I cannot even request business seat to be released on the later SYD-SIN flight either.

I have found award SYD-(QF)-PER-(3K)-SIN-(3K)-BKK for 35,000 points and ~$170.

I can also do award SYD-(QF)-PER-(CX)-HKG but for some reason that is pricing at 53,000 points.

The PER-HKG is also available on Asia Miles but not sure how many miles required as I do not have a balance.

Really need to get into BKK early morning and get to CNX by lunchtime at latest. Should have booked the award earlier today instead of waiting. Argh.

CX has PER-HKG-BKK for 25000miles +HKD599.
Can even go with QR via DOH for an extra HKD950.
You don't need a miles balance to search and price.

TG472 using UA or lifemiles might be an option if it's not too early.

I can search Asia Miles but without enough miles it is not giving me the actual miles cost and price. U

nfortunately with the CX PER-HKG flight the next available flight into BKK is after lunch and wouldn't get into CNX until evening which would be too late. It would have to be a short cut Air Asia HKG-CNX.

Oh why leave things to the last minute?

Can someone please post loadings for QF5 SYD-SIN on 18 September?

P.S. Any free tools that show availability or just KVS and ExpertFlyer?

AFF is pretty cheap....

LOL.

I am struggling to understand why there are no award seats available with those sort of loadings. They expect to sell every seat? Can't even request business class seat to be released.

I suspect that award seats have all been snapped up. Presence of award seats have not been associated with dynamic loadings this close to the departure date. I think once its all taken up no more are released. And I think the "I" fare magic conversion to U for certain passengers works like Cinderella. After midnight there is no more magic. I think we are after midnight.

This is SYD-BKK 18 September:
It looks like its very full...

There are no I or D fares available which suggests there are pax on discount business fares. And really all we know from those loadings is there are at least 9 seats in each of J and Y.
This far out why should they give up on selling them?

Yes, its after midnight unfortunately. Anything they cant sell in J will be put on the upgrade lottery with points or $$ which generally requires the purchase of a more expensive Y as the quid pro quo.

Even D7 is selling SYD-CNX for nearly $1000 return. I think the industry is seeing high demand during this time and pricing accordingly.

Sorry JohnK:(

I have been trying to use points but I suspect the simplest solution is to pay for airfare.

I can get SQ SYD-BKK return for ~$1100 in flexi saver departing 18 September and returning 22 September. That ties up Virging Gold for another 12 months. From there to CNX and back is cheap.

The Qantas airfare is around the same. I understand what you are saying but loadings look light to me ~6 weeks away.

There were award seats yesterday morning. Do I persevere a few more days for award to open up and risk revenue airfare increasing? One thing is clear though and that is points/miles have very little value on both QF and SQ. Need to rethink the points earning strategy.

Its not so much whether seats are still freely available, its that the cheaper seats in each class are gone. I think award seats will not be released as esseeeayeenn says there are no I,D fares for J and the EGLNOQSV discount econ buckets are also uncommon.

Points value slide the closer it is to a flight.
