PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Upgrade to First on QF 11/12

I'm booked in J on QF11 on the 3rd November and on QF12 on November 13th. I am hoping once of you extremely helpful forum members could have a look to see how good my chances are for a points upgrade to F. I had put the requests in exactly 90 days before the departure dates and am Gold on the way out but (finally!) Platinum by the time I come back.

Greatly appreciate your help, many thanks already!

there are quite some seats available in First and J (but still a bit too early to say though)

QF 011 F9 A6 J9 C9 D9 IL

QF 012 F9 A7 J9 C9 D5 IL

have you been able to select some good seats already?

BTW congrats on making WP on the way back!

Thanks for checking Mille- I got 13K both ways so far which seems good enough to me :)

Actually, any seat in J on a QF A380 is good enough I'd say. F would be a nice bonus though and I'm very keen to finally get to try the degustation meal out SYD. Seems to be looking good for now so I will keep my fingers crossed! :p

13K is good, as a SG I could not select anything more forward then something like row 18...

Yes- I was surprised myself as last time on the same flight I couldn't select any seat in this cozy little forward section of the J cabin at all and at first, this was the case here as well.

For some reason, about a month ago they suddenly opened up row 13 for me (12 and 11 are still greyed out) and I grabbed those seats straight away of course :D

Hi We are on QF 64 from JBG - SYD on 23/10 - 2 adults and one infant on the same itinerary.

Hoping someone can have a quick look at the loads and upgrade chances for Y - J and Y - Y+ on that flight.

Thanks, help much appreciated.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could let me know what the loading is at the moment on CX100 on Monday 7th November to HKG (departs SYD 15:40), unfortunately down the back of the bus :(. Also, if I could further impose, CX293 on 8th November, HKG - FCO, (departs 00:10). Again, povo class.

Many thanks.....MikedOut

Sun 6th Nov Syd LAX - no chance of PE-J?

Just looked at flightstats and both QF107 & QF11 on Subday are full in J cabin- anyone know whats happening in LA that week that they have filled all J seats (& PE)? Medical Convention?
I was hoping for upgrade (WP) PE to J on QF11 for SO & me, but this doesn't look likely...:(
Cheers,
Dean

As posted, low F/J availability on that date - J0/J0/J3/J4 ( QF11/107/15/93) - maybe a few had deferred their travel a week?

That makes a lot of sense - maybe they upgraded you if you deferred a week? Can only hope they've upgraded us to J, to let some Y through into Y+ and not told us yet...we will see at t-24hrs I guess.
Thanks for the reply.

Dean

CX100: J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 (exceptional chance for upgrade to Business if you have CX points, otherwise a very empty Economy cabin - you should at least be able to get a spare seat beside you etc)

CX293: J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 (again, the same chance - both appear to be particularly empty flights, though CX has sold at least 10 economy seats on this flight... haha!)

:)

EDIT: Just curious for the forum's opinions on my own flight. I'll be flying MEL-SIN on Dec 26 (QF 9), booked in S class (QF NB travelling with another NB, though current bookings will mean reaching silver not long after this flight).

Loading: F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T5 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0 ... the Y cabin is obviously oversold (they're still selling Flexi Savers for this flight), the F cabin is wide open (not a single pre-assigned seat), the J cabin has approx. 50% pre-assigned seats, and the W cabin has only 7 unassigned seats...

Given this, what are the chances of QF moving J passengers to F and/or W passengers to J, thereby creating room for upgrades from Y in either the J or F cabins? If upgrades needed to be completed, surely QF would rather take something (ie. a reduced points 'debt') over handing out op-ups to higher status pax? ... or is it highly likely that QF will receive enough upgrade requests from high status pax that will solve their overselling issues? (of course, I know that none of you will have this specific information available for the flight, but any tails of past experience is of course better than nothing!) :)

'tis "upgrade season".

An NB, you'd be way down the list for op-ups, but a points upgrade is quite possible. They indeed do J->F then W->J and finally Y-J/W.

I'm looking at QF93 for 5 December - Flight stats says 5 in first, 9 in bus, 9 in econ.

Qantas website suggests cheapest fare bucket is sold out (no sale fares available, but red e-deals, saver and flexi-saver are available)

How likely are they to sell that many more tickets in the next three weeks?

What are chances of op-up from economy (O class I think) (I'm platinum, my travelling partner NB)

"Mouse-over" those FlightStats numbers and look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories) for increase op-up chances.

Conversely, look for high number is the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Then follow thread linked to in post #1.

Thanks Serfty, have done - looks like there's still a fair amount of availability in economy, so not liking chances of an op-up, sadly.

ExpertFlyer is showing availability for LAX-SYD via BNE (QF16 and 509 or 511) on 29/09/2012 for 9 award seats. However the QF booking engine shows no award flights available except on CX via HKG. I have made a couple of calls to QFF but the agents can't see the awards as shown on ExpertFlyer. How do I find out which is correct?

After a few emails to expertflyer I discovered that the availability against QF16/QF509 only refers to QF509. The blank box for QF16 means no awards available - so why put it there? A bit confusing but now I understand it.

Just checked T-17h for QF31 and it appears my girlfriend has had her upgrade request J -> F come through.

I'm stuck in Y (now regretting that decision not to take up those limited time N/O fare upgrades promos that was offered). Currently EF shows U9 which would have given me a decent chance of going in J .... oh well. Guess I'll save those 40K for another day.
