PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

hi all,

could someone please let me know how full Y is for QF7 on 10/3 SYD-DFW?

also i can only see from rows 43 back - is this likely to open up more closer to the flight date? (i'm only a bronze FF) I assume it is the new configuration of the plane but seatguru isn't giving me any love.

cheers

If you don't know the city pair off the top of your head, simply "google" the flight number:

Let Me Google That

No I don't know every flight number off the top of my head .. many of them are cities I don't normally make bookings out of .. and yes I can find them either via amadeus or google or whatever ... but I'm not going to spend the time doing so when the person asking could simply give that info :)

Fair enough. It seems you have access to Amadeus and your input is appreciated.

I have been answering queries here for many a day and find little issue with an extra bit of research; although I do point people to post #1 which has advice on haw they may be able to do it for themselves.

and I'm happy to look at flights and answer questions when I have spare minutes :) ... its easier and faster if the flight details are in a similar format to the input I use .. that is ..

date, from, to, carrier-flight nbr .... ie .... 30mar syd sin qf001

cheers

Currently chances of an opup from Y+ to J are zero, right?

Around 18hrs to go before my flight above, its now showing:-

Looks pretty full all round so guess I'll be enjoying Y 26B for now.

I would appreciate if some one can help in regards to Y to Y+ or J seat availability

Thanks Bill,

Does it mean that i have very little chance for an upgrade as there are 8 Y seats still available?
Who really knows?

They may move two from J to f and two from W to j and two from Y to W but it will probably only happen (IMHO) if they sell the Y seats.

Have you requested a points upgrade, or were you hoping for an op-up.

Neither of these flight are showing any availability on either Business or Premium - and very little in first.

If booked in economy I would expect to be travelling in economy given those loadings.

Looks like no seat in first and business available. ( hope i am reading this no correctly!!)

Thanks a lot again guys- I will post afterwards how it went!

Yuuhee- upgrade got confirmed... At around T-22 the status of the upgrade still said"Requested" and I could not check in online but got some error message instead. I called them to see what's happening and they told me it's all okay and apparently they need to manually release some mysterious "upgrade voucher" which can take until T-5. All went to confirmed over night now, boarding pass is printed and I scored a nice window seat in the little three row "private" J cabin up the front. Now for the Flounge...
