PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Hello All,
Travelling with my partner SYD-LHR as following:
QF1 24/4/12
QF9 25/4/12

Can someone assist with loadings - hoping to upgrade both of us to either PE or J for both flights. I am a WP and my partner is Bronze.

Hello

Are you on the same PNR ?

Yes we are

You just have to go to your bookings on your QFF account and choose on the right UPGRADE.
You have a lot of chance to get your upgrade confirmed because the A380 is mostly fully booked in Y and PE. I am SG and i can get it all the time when i request it whenever the period of the year.

I think fiBer has already done that.

fiBer, have you looked at the tip in post #1 of this thread?

Looking good for QF1:

Not so for QF9:

Hi serfty and christopherc,

Thanks for that info. Serfty I did read the first post but had trouble registering for flightstats.

Guess I'll just have to apply and hope for the best!

hi there,

would love some advice on a general question.

I'm booking QF93 MEL-LAX and want to try for an upgrade from economy to business.

does anyone have advice on the best days of the week for the lowest business passengers load on QF93?

thanks!

Hi All,

A little over a week to go for QF9 4th May MEL-LHR.

Loading looks like this:
F5 A4 J9 C9 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

Points upgrade request to both Y+ and J. (Coming from L, and SG)

My take: I think its fair to say that Y+ is no dice. But J may be a possibility?

Those who are far more knowledgeable than me on this, care to offer some expert insight?

Updrade availability

I have requested couple of upgrades and wanted to know if there is any ways to check availability of those upgrades.

SYD-SIN on 8th June QF5 ( currently booked in PE fare bucket R)

And return

HGK- SYD on 21st June QF128 ( currently booked in PE fare bucket T)

I would imagine its too early to be predicting upgrades with any degree of certainty for those flights

Re: Updrade availability

This thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ility-loadings-upgrade-probability-25311.html is generally the thread to post these requests in.

I did a quick check:

SYD-SIN: J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K7 M3 L0 S1 G0 E0 - wide open

HKG-SYD: F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T1 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X6 E0 - also wide open

On the SYD-SIN flight there are still lots of expensive whY fares so no real push from whY to PE thus no push from PE to J but at least it isn't J2 D0 I0 which would be saying no. HKG-SYD is similar.

.

Sorry about that.... I'm only on this forum 10 times a day! It's not like I didn't know!

If the admin wants to move the post thats fine.

Well sound like I will know closer to the date. Or I could change the flight and pay an extra $3k to fly J but I have never been on PE and it may be good enough for me.

Re: Updrade availability

They are only fairly short flights - certainly up to SIN I could live with PE - however for the overnight flight back I wouldn't be flying PE if there was any other option.

Re: Updrade availability

Well I'm actually flying to CDG- so do you think the extra $3k is cheap to change to J

Re: Updrade availability

Personally I would be upgrading to J - it is hard to say whether $3K is cheap or not as that is all relative.

Re: Updrade availability

Not specifically a question re upgrades, but I figure this thread is probably close enough:

What I'd like to know is how QF generally approach releasing more award seats (specifically P and U) close to the departure date for lightly-loaded flights?

I have a J Classic Award ticketed on QF11 on 30/05. Currently the flight is wiiiide open less than a month out:

F9 A8 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O4 G0 X6 E0

I booked the Classic Award as I needed the premium desk to release the J seat for me back in Feb, but obviously I'd prefer a cheap JASA (or even FASA), so I'm hoping they will release more U/P seats to the general public and I can cancel / rebook.

Any pro tips as to how likely QF are to release more U/P seats on this flight, and if so, how far out they would likely do it?

Re: Updrade availability

If the flight stays *this* empty, expect them to release U seats around two weeks prior (but it pays to check every day, or set an ExpertFlyer alert for U class so that you can snap it up as soon as available). F9 A8 indicates that they have only sold a few seats, but that they expect to get away with selling a few full-fare First seats (either last-minute or earlier if the A inventory isn't increased), so getting a P seat on this flight may be slightly harder than getting a U seat)... still worth setting an EF alert! :) If you don't have EF, let me know and I'll happily set alerts for you in my account, though I would have to receive them at my address and then PM you (and by the time that happened, the P/U seat(s) may have already disappeared) :)

Re: Upgrade O class SYD-HKG to Business

The waiting game continues - though not long now - I am looking at flightstats and the current availability is:

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/9 U/1

I would appreciate someone more experienced than I having a look at this. Am I mistaken in assuming that (at this stage) I have a chance of an upgrade (pending where I am in the queue), or is U/1 the fare bucket I'm shooting for?

Thanks in advance

Re: Upgrade O class SYD-HKG to Business

With the U1 now appearing, it shows that QF plan to move at least one pax to Business (if it's close to departure), but have not yet done so, so you stand a respectable chance. If you provide the departure date of the flight, I can take a better look if you'd like. :)
