PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: Seat Availability SQ212 June 24 2012

Fare bucket availability for that flight (I'll leave interpretation of those figures to someone else):

F4 P0 A4 Z4 C4 J4 D4 S9 Y9 B9 E0 M0 W0 Q0 N0 H0 V0 T0 L0 K0

Anyone want to predict the chances of my J->F upgrade clearing for QF11 on 30/05? ...

F seatmap suggests 5 out of 14 seats occupied. J seatmap suggests cabin is about 60% full (to gauge how much "competition" I might be facing). As noted in my profile I'm WP, but unfortunately only got my upgrade request in around the start of May (1 month out).
I don't believe time of request has any real bearing on the upgrade packing order any more.

In any case, A6 indicates a reasonable chance.

My Y+ to J points upgrade for QF15 came through at about T-22.5 today. I figured it had worked when I attempted to OLCI and got a "go to airport, you can't OLCI" message. I then managed to gt further in the process after getting the UG SMS, but don't have a boarding pass (am in 23B on a 4-class 747, so could be exit row issue). I also don't seem to be checked in for 3rd flight; DFW-ATL. :(

Enjoy 23B, one of the best seats in the house I reckon.

Thanks! I was offered 12B upstairs, and there were a few other unassigned seats in the cabin, but I figured I'd give this one a try. :)

Please let us know what you think. It's spacious IMHO. If you are upstairs take 11 or 16, prefer 11. A window is better up stairs you have more personal storage space, so to be able to get out must be 11 or 16 as bulkhead.

Happy landings!

It's a 4 class sold as three today - shame you couldn't snaffle one of those lay flat seats in rows 1-4 ...

Hi fellow AFFers...

Can someone with access please check whats the upgrade probability for Syd to Hkg QF127 on 19th May

I'm currently in Y 50C

Thanks

See tip in post 1 to get loadings for free.

I would be extremely surprised if you did not get an upgrade to business class with these loadings:

I booked a standard fare using webjet.

The Swiss air flights LX180 and LX1839 have J on the eticket, 20 September.

Does this mean J bucket? Why would it have gone into this bucket? Does it mean anything to me? Is it what's available, or chosen off the PNR?

Other flights on journey are standard Y bucket (Austrian air) and promotional for Thai I think (I?)

Welcome to AFF.

ExpertFlyer indicates J is Business class:

ExpertFlyer indicates J is Business class:

Thanks, long time lurker, first time poster.

So, this can occur even if the 'class' listing indicates economy. I hate to sound like a rookie, but does this mean a potential for an upgrade if one is available?

I know it is also based on yield, but can it be determined by airline based on information in the PNR which bucket?

Occasionally airlines will sell economy seats from the J fare bucket if they can get the money for them. For example if the flight is full they might do it knowing that they can't sell a J seat and thus could push someone into J to offset the oversold seats in whY. That person might not be the person buying the J fare though - it might go to a status pax on an el cheapo fare...

rationale for that would be if the sucker was stupid enough to pay J fares for whY seats then they might do it again...

BTW not calling you a sucker - I have no idea what price you paid for your ticket.

Yes, understood.

This could make sense. The fare was available, disappeared and became available again.

It was the cheapest available ($1890), which is why I was surprised.

Sydney to Skopje via Bangkok and Vienna.

Athens to Sydney via Zurich and Bangkok (the swiss air legs with J confirmation code..). My partner (lead passenger) has travelled with Swiss quite alot.

What about "I" class on Thai Airways (I am assuming it is an "I" and not an "L" because all others are capitals).

It is the first number in the airline confirmation.

TG476.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and trying to get my head around loadings etc and wondered if someone could give me some advice? My husband and I are flying on QF1 on Tuesday 5th June and I've put in for an upgrade from business to first. I'm a gold FF and my husband will have just dropped back to silver. Do we have any chance??? Thanks!
Cheers
Nicole

Oops - think I posted in the wrong place - sorry...am a complete newbie!

I generally designates Discount Business class. So on QF it goes (in order from most expensive to cheapest) JCDI. For example if I am flying in whY domestic and try to upgrade using points - if I see I class availability I generally get the points upgrade - no I no J :(

That is showing low availability in F. The seat map as well shows as all but 3 allocated seats. I wouldnt be that hopeful.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Thanks Simon - helps to know in advance so I don't get my hopes up!

They were defijitely blocked for "real" J pax (or already allocated). No seats available upstairs at all. At checkin, the agent showed me downstairs; I almost moved to 25F as E was empty, bu glad I stayed. A QF dom FA was in 23D & we got on wonderfully with the FAs. We each received a bottle of Tattinger, which was a lovely surprise. I've already written an email to QF about the service, which inlcuded the CSM trying to pull my seat apart as I lost jewellry down it. An FA eventually spotted it & retrieved it with a coathanger.
23B was lovely & spacious. The gent in the A seat disn't bother me at all. :)
