PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

G'day brothers and sisters of AFF. I'm jumping on QF1 on 23/6/2012. What're the loadings like? Whadya reckon the chances of an op-up from Y for a lowly QFF Silver will be?

All classes are zero. Completely full. So unfortunately your chances of an op-up regardless of class are pretty much zero.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

thank you Serfty for helping

I did use the thread to try and analyse but just wanted to confirm I'm on the right track...

I5 being upgrade seats?

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

I5 being upgrade seats?
I indicates 'deep discount' revenue business class. U is award. (FWIW, U2 is even more promising)

Aside from that, I don't believe "time of request" has any bearing on the awarding of upgrades any more.

Points upgrade query

Hi,

Find the insight on here really interesting. First question...

I am flying BNE-LAX on the 1st August, what is the chance of a points upgrade for myself and my wife (both silver)?

Guessing slim to none but thoughts would be good...

Cheers

Put in the request as early as possible (now) and cross your fingers. Someone with EF membership may be able to look at the fare buckets and give you a rough idea of the chances.

I submitted my request about three weeks ago, I have Business listed as primary and PE if Business is unavailable.

Good, that is the way to do it. Your chances depend on availability of the upgrade fare buckets and how many higher tiered status members have requested.

qf15 on 01/08, looks promising at this stage with decent availability in business and premium fare buckets J9 C9 D9 I5 W9 R9 T9

Re: Points upgrade query

I think you have reasonable odds. You are lucky you are flying on a Wednesday as it is typically the quietest day of the week for travel. Which will mean fewer people competing for upgrades. Also likely more seats available in business that you can be upgraded to.

At least anecdotally Qantas seem to be granting more upgrades in the past 6 months than they did previously.

But on the other hand often best to keep your expectations down. If you get it then good. If you don't then there is always next time.
