PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Current loading are:

J0 C0 D0 I0 U0 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O1 G0 X2 E0

J is completely chockers, so you've got basically zero chance of Y -> J. Y -> Y+ is a possibility though.

Some hope QF1 given J is not full and T is full:

About the same on Qf2:

Great so now I just gotta wait 16 days to find out.... this is just killing me....

Hi my son is travelling on 31/5 on QF 1to London in Y. What would his chances of an op up to J be.

Thank you for your help.

I'm flying on QF11 SYD-LAX on 30/05, currently in J with a F upgrade request submitted.

Sometime in the past 48 hours the loadings went from approximately:

F9 A6 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q6 G0 X5 E0

To:

F6 A5 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T4 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q6 O1 G0 X9 E0

And the F seatmap is showing 3-4 more seats occupied than it previously did.

Given that we're now within T-7 days, would it be reasonable to think that the sudden change in F loadings is due to QF processing upgrade requests for WP1s on the flight? And if so, what do the experts here think my upgrade chances are, as a WP who only submitted their upgrade request about a month out from the flight?

Hi my son is travelling on 31/5 on QF 1to London in Y. What would his chances of an op up to J be.

Do you mean an op-up, or a points upgrade? If the former, very little chance unless he has significant status and is lucky - QF only perform op-ups if required for genuine operational reasons (e.g. oversold cabin), and whilst Y on that flight is quite highly loaded it doesn't appear to be completely full. If the latter, possible, but again probably only if he has status - there are a few seats left in J, but probably quite a few people competing for them.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm sorry I meant a points upgrade. And no he is a lowly bronze, so probably no chance.
So it is a well booked in Y.
He has selected 61G an aisle seat with hopefully only 1 person stepping over him. He is 6'2" and his first solo long haul flight.

Thanks for your reply.

No worries.

Yup - I forgot to post the loading before, but they are:

F0 A0 P0 J9 C6 D0 I0 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

I'm pretty sure C6 was C0 this morning, but J is also pretty damn full: seat map only shows 6 available seats, plus a couple blocked.

If this is his first solo longhaul flight then it's probably a good thing he's in Y - you've got to fly Y first to be able to truly appreciate J! :D

Hahaha

Yes you are soo right, its hard to go back when you have sampled something better then Y.
He seems to think he will be able to sleep easily!! We will see.
Although he is working his but off at work to get away, so maybe he will be very tired.
