PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Hi guys, wonder of the likelihood of points upgrades for 2 pax to either PE or J from discount-Y on the following:

1. QF93 MEL-LAX Sep-16
2. QF94 LAX-MEL Sep-20

Highest status unfortunately is only PS QP.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Legroom. It's a group booking (Booking class: G). I've called Qantas and they've said that once e-tickets are issued they can split myself & SWMBO out of the group booking and put us in our own booking which will be upgradeable.. but must be requested via the call centre, won't be able to do online. I'm hopeful...

Following on from polly1's request on 19-Aug, doing the same QF23/24 combo on 21/25-Aug.
I have ExpertFlyer and the flight seems as empty as polly1's.

Looking at SeatMaps however literally every 2nd row is xx_'d out with very limited seat allocation.

Does this mean that loads on this route are below 50% and they are basically blocking every 2nd row to ensure weight distribution ??

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

Hi All, we are on QF1 SYD to LHR on Friday 23rd Aug. Booked in Y+ with upgrade requests to J. Requests put in while WP and SG status.

Would someone be so kind as to check probability?
thanks in advance.

Expert flyer returns:
F9 A9 J9 C9 D4 I0 W3 R0 T0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

So must be possible given Y=0, and J=9+.

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

I am on QF5 flying SYD-SIN on 6th Sept, currently booked in Y with upgrade request to J and fall back Y+.

What are my chances of getting the upgrade ? Only Gold QFF status.

Thanks.

Lots of seats available in all classes, so from what I have heard here there is not as much pressure to move people up:

Can you let us know how you go? Have a lot of requests but no feedback as to whether they are successful or not makes it difficult to predict them in the future...

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

Thanks, I thought that lots of empty seats in J means that there is a high chance of getting the upgrade through. Why would Qantas want people to hold on to their points ?

Also, I thought that if its tight in economy, yes there are better chances for upgrade but as an OP UP not upgrade with points as they want to sell more economy tickets and reward few high flyers with a free upgrade.

...
But that does give more of a chance at a points upgrade reward.

I9 is looking good for Business upgrade, Z1 is an award PE - barring unusual event I would not be expecting to travel in economy.:D

X9 indicates very light in economy so little chance of op-ups ...

With those numbers it looks good for receiving the text from the upgrade fairy:cool:
