PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

Can you let us know how you go? Have a lot of requests but no feedback as to whether they are successful or not makes it difficult to predict them in the future...

Will let you know - fingers crossed!

Thanks OATEK for the info

Funnily enough, all the sudden "the flight is no longer eligible for seat selection but I can set a window or aisle seat preference"...is that a good sign? No points deducted or notifications yet. 45hrs from flight right now

Our picked seats - 24A and B are still listed as our seats

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

what does the U bucket mean ?

if it was 0 for long time and now it changed to 1, does it mean that there is only one seat Qantas released that is available for classic award sale or upgrades?

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

really? so only one person can get points upgrade to U? or are points upgrade requests treated separate? otherwise thats slim pickins as there might be 20 points upgrade requests and only 1 granted :(

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

Checking into QF36 at SIN last night and asked the lady at the counter about how the loads were looking in J, and she said there were a fair few spaces, and she could do an "up-sell" for S$1k (about A$900 - not too shabby). So I said an "up-sell" ? Are there a few WPs around ? Lol.

So then I asked how's Y looking and she said overbooked. But then she said that I won't get op-uped because I already selected my seat (is this true?).

Anyway, the weirdest thing was, after taking my seat and looking around the Y cabin, there was heaps of availability. Myself and about 5-6 other pax's had a full middle section (4 seats) to sleep on, and many others had 2 seats. Probably half full at most.

How could an overbooked Y cabin suddenly become only half(ish) full ?

Availability in D and I would also indicate a points upgrade opportunity.

Me, three - and couldn't have been happier as I was in a terrible seat before the op-up!

Thanks Tristanm..

Do they have enough empty seats that i can go down and sleep during the flight in economy?

Y is not full, but several of the fare buckets have sold out. You really can't tell what seats will be empty though until you're on the flight.

May i ask, if J,C,D,I all indicate 9 for a given flight, is that any indication of chance of seat release by request at 131211? And even if so, that clearly rules out any possibility of a mASA?
