PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

You would need availability in U for a JASA.

I'm wondering whether the questioner meant this: given that most J classes are showing 9, does that indicate they may drop one to U if you phone and ask?

I can't imagine it would be the case a long way out, but what about close to the date of the flight?

Yes, for a WP, it does, however you cannot then book that as a JASA. It has to be a Classic Award.

EDIT: subject to approval by yield management.

Yep spot on, sorry i should have worded it better. I guess I was wondering if there was a threshold (JCDI < #X) before a 0% U conversion.

Or say if "I" drops down to 0, then is that a hard indication that there is no chance of an award release?

Hi all

Mrs Ansett and I are off on QF35 on 5th September and looking at flights stats it is indicating 36 seats available in J class yet the bird has only 30 seats in J? Why the difference.

it is also showing a minimum of 106 seats available over the various Y booking classes. Any idea what the actuals are for this flight please and the probability of either an upgrade or free seats to spread out in?

Many thanks

as I mentioned earlier, I am on QF5 to SIN next Friday and this is what flightstats is reporting in terms of seat availability:

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/9 U/0

W/9 R/9 T/9 Z/1 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/9 Q/9 O/9 G/0 X/9 E/0

Does that mean that my points request to J from Y is going to get through as the plane load seems to be VERY light ?

thanks

I'm an amateur in the dark art of upgrades........but I'd say YES! As long as every other person in W/Y isn't planning on doing the same.

I suggest you read this thread (which is also linked in post #1 of this thread):

Then maybe you can rephrase your question.:D

other than that it seems rather empty ... upgrades are possible ...

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

Can you let us know how you go? Have a lot of requests but no feedback as to whether they are successful or not makes it difficult to predict them in the future...

Hi all - We got the points upgrade from Y+ to J. we were notified the night before the flight via text, so it seems the advice I got here was correct.

thanks!

Yes, twice on QF98 in the last 3-4 months and I think most other occasions prior to that over the last few years have generally come in earlier than T-5.

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

thanks, how much earlier are we talking about ? my flight departure is 1pm atm so would I get it the night before maybe?

Re: QF Load Sydney/Bangkok

Thanks Amaroo,

We are in economy for the Sydney to Dubai leg, had hoped for a points upgrade, but I am sure I am down the pecking order.
I never seem to get a plane that is not full these days.
Oh well we do have 80A/B selected.
Next leg is to Milan with Emirates.

Chock-a-block. Best hope is for some J-F upgrades and prey not many in W or Y are ahead of you in the queue.
