PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

This is the loading for MEL-LHR. Things are looking pretty good for you right? - Only 2 spare F but business is nearly full AND premium is full.

An update for QF9 on Thursday: F2 A0 J2 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0

Looking alright for an F upgrade...

Next time I'm booking a Tuesday night flight...

QF9 on Friday night: F7 A7 J6 C0 D0 I0 W4 R4 T0 Z1 Y9 B9 H1 K0 M0 L0 G0

I would appreciate an updated opinion on my chances of a 2 pax Y->J bounce on Friday night?

F7 means there is scope for J -> F upgrades, and therefore more opportunity for Y -> J as well. But I still think FF status is a big factor here as well, particularly when the J cabin does not show any D/I availability.

Thank you OAKTEK. I am hoping that my QC membership will help a little bit as at least I will be among the first requests considered after platinum, gold and silver members (ie before the 10,000 requests from non-QC bronze members). And I think it also allows consideration for an ODU.

0/14 seats are allocated in F. However J and PE are looking completely full.

Many Thanks

Another quick question.
Are blocked seats, likely to open up for upgrades or are they blocked for a reason?

Reason I ask. J class has 6 blocked seats and 3 unoccupied.
Y+ has 6 blocked.

Cheers

My understanding that late in the piece like this the block is put in place to protect the seat for either upgrades, status "shadows" or allocation at the airport. I am not sure what would happen if you bought the last J seat on offer as per the availability search, whether you would have to ring to get a seat allocated or not.

You do need to remember that expert Flyer returns a seat map based on what your status is - and that may vary so that what a WP sees as seats available can vary to what an SG/PS might see, although conventional wisdom is that in the last few days that is less applicable than say when you might have booked months ago.

Hi all,

Travelling QF93 MEL/LAX next Monday 19 Dec,
Requested upgrade at time of booking early this year
but very grateful if any AFFER can advise upgrade availability J - F for 2 pax.

Thanks OQ

all depends on how many WPs are in front of you and if they can sell any more revenue seats but fingers crossed!

On this matter one persons opinion is as good as the next. I don't think we have a reliable line yet on all the factors, as some have been elevated to a higher class despite all the advice that it was unlikely, others have failed when it seemed likely they would succeed. The seat map has 4 seats open and 6 blocked in J, and 5 open if F, so I think you have a reasonable chance notwithstanding a lack of discount J availability. Please do report back.

Re: Upgrade Availability QF93

Thanks ozmille & OATEK for the super quick reply.
Won't hold my breath just keep fingers crossed.
Will report if successful in "Upgrade Success".

Re: Upgrade Availability QF93

I'm on QF9 on Friday night.

This is the latest loading: F7 A7 J6 C5 D0 I0 W3 R3 T0 Z1 Y9 B8 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 (it's not like I'm incessantly checking it or anything)

Looks like some seats have been allocated in F (J - F upgrades hopefully), freeing up J. QANTAS is now selling J tickets on this flight again too (though it seems no saver fares).

Re: Upgrade Availability QF93

Can someone please post loadings for CX918 MNL > HKG and BA 032 HKG > LHR both on Dec 25.
Many thanks.

Quick question - if you get an upgrade offer do you have an opportunity to decline it?

I've started to think that the Y - PE upgrade might not be worth it as I have a PE - J request in on the way home, and don't have the points for both.

I would change my Y - J request to untick the PE offer but that would send me to the back of the queue.
