PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Upgrade possibility - Your thoughts

Hi Crew,

My upcoming flight (SYD -> LAX -> JFK) on the 14/1 is looking pretty empty with EF quoting:

F7 A7 J9 C9 D5 I0 W9 R9 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O1 G0 X1 E0

First, can anyone confirm that this is a pretty empty flight?

Second, my Dad (I have seen the other thread) is a lifetime gold FF (and lifetime QP member) so would it be any use to have him join me when I check in to flash his card (I'm a lowly bronze)?

NB: The other option is contacting a family friend who is a FA (very senior Cabin Manager) on another international route to see what he can do from the inside.

From the info you have given the last option seems your best shot

I can tell you from personal experience you may not have any luck on this. I was flying to SIN a few months back and a good friend of mine was second officer on that flight and he couldn't get me upgraded! although the Cabin manager did personally look after me on the trip - and i was in row 40 on the 744.

Thanks, though not what I wanted to hear. Alls fair when you want something for nothing :)

I have many friends who fly for QF (Pilots) and on the rare occasions I get to fly with one of them the best I have from them is to ensure that we were really well looked after.

Total waste of time. It would not be worth his job.....

On 28 Dec SYD-BKK

I was comp upgraded from Y to PE . Checked in at AKL 11am (9am AEST) for the ditch Y crossing. Was already UG at AKL. I was travelling on separate tickets and as I had done online At AKL check in, there was an issue joining my two PNR's for baggage check thru AKL-SYD-BKK. The check in were concerned that while fixing the issue I might lose the UG but all was well. My first time in PE, thought the room was good, but the silly leg rest was a waste of space.

Can anyone help with QF32 SIN-SYD on 9 January 2011?
I am hoping for a points UG from Y to PE

If you OLCI when travelling on 2 separate pnrs they need to offload you ie uncheck you in so as to link the flights in your checkin record so that your bag can be through checked AKL/BKK.

When you are unchecked or cancel accepted your booking will revert to the original class of service ie Y however in this instance when you were checked in again after the flights were linked the op-up to PE was reinstated.

Might be a handy thing to make sure your bookings are linked a few days beforehand so it's all ticketyboo when you OLCI & add bags.

I'm not suggesting that they do something that would place themselves in contravention of any rules. Qu is answered - and happy to fly whY...

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

So the bet would be to cancel the Y to Y+ UG and hope for a free OP from Y to Y+ given that Y and Y+ are oversold. They willl move Y to PE and Y+ to J etc

Expertflyer is showing;

F3 A2 J9 C9 D9 I9 W0 R0 T0 Y0 B1 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

looks like a very full flight in Y & PE. Don't like your chances.
Given the D9/I9 availability, I suspect there may be quite a few points upgrade requests granted, certainly from PE and likely from WHY. This would free PE seat for those wishing to upgrade to PE from WHY.

So the bet would be to cancel the Y to Y+ UG and hope for a free OP from Y to Y+ given that Y and Y+ are oversold. They willl move Y to PE and Y+ to J etc
I would hold tight; while your summary is credible; a points upgrade would generally be done before any Op-Up is considered.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Out of curiosity, is anyone able to summise what to expect from QF31 on Jan 16.
No EF for me, but FlightStats currently says:
F5 A5 P0 J7 C0 D0 I0 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

Expecting Y and Y+ to be chockers?

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Absolutely - in fact, expect all seats to be taken, there will probably be people in F, J and W who paid for a lower class of cabin.

Excellent - I hope to be one of them. :) Cheers.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I've got a V class far on QF782 this coming Tuesday (Jan 11).

Seatcounter has been down for a few months - can anyone do an EF check for me? Wondering what my chances of an op-up might be (QFF Silver atm). If I don't not too bad, at least I managed to get 4F at the t-80 mark but it would be nice.

It is the silly season at the moment. I am flying out of SIN tonight and it would appear that QF flights to SIN and MEL are chockers.

Trust me to be on the QF flight to PER though!
