Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

Of course they're going to increase the spend hurdle - that's the whole point of these offers - to try to get you to spend more next time. Your job is to spend less and fool the algorithm to offer you lower amounts in the future. Not shopping as much also assists (alternating between retailers).
I thought the idea of loyalty was to get people to continue spending but not necessarily spending more.

By increasing the spend target we did not even attempt to spend the $50 of the original offer let alone the revised target of $60. I think Woolworths understands loyalty a little better than Flybuys.

@JohnK, it's a combination of the two, but if they convince the person to spend more (because the person is more focussed on earning the bonus points, not the spend); then the retailer has made more profit. That's the true name of the retailing game.

I’m not so sure one is better than the other. Flybuys has been around for ever and a day so it must be doing something right.

The loyalty part of these programs is really only secondary to the data it pulls in and the ability for Coles/Woolies to profit out of it

In a way you're right.

Woolworths can ignore certain accounts for a long time but they seem to adjust the spend targets quicker than Flybuys just like the current $30/$40/$50 spend over 3 weeks on wifes account.

Flybuys on the other hand want me to spend between $140-$230/week when I've never even come close to any of those figures.

I may have you confused with someone else, but I was under the impression you bought up gift cards in full knowledge that spending targets are affected by that spend.

Yes I buy Virgin and Jetstar gift cards knowing full well they don't count in achieving a spend target but are considered when setting a spend target.

An obvious glitch that is simply ignored?

P.S. Woolworths spend targets are not affected by gift card purchases.

Woolworths also lets you spread your spend out rather than requiring it to be all in one shop. It is what it is, little point whining about it.

I received a spend $90 for two weeks for 3000 points. Probably won't do this with the WOW happening in parallel and going O/S next week.

I have received a spend $90 for 3,600 pts be Tuesday 30 October. I guess due to no spending being out of the country last 3 weeks. Back tomorrow, do I use it? Probably yes since nothing in the house.

For Woolworths, most now are over multiple shops in my experience.
5 cards. 7 offers in the last month. 0 allow multiple shops.

This is the norm:

'*Qualifying amounts must be spent in one transaction.'

'Dr Ralph, collect 3,000 BONUS POINTS when you spend $250 at Coles!

Offer valid in store and for Coles online orders delivered between Wed 31 Oct and Fri 2 Nov 2018.'

They are dreaming!

This is clearly the penalty for buying gift cards at Coles.

This is what I call a good couple of days ahopping where all the stars aligned, with piggybacked targeted offers:

Coles Home Brand Crackers (50 bonus points)
Spend $70 get 500 bonus points
Spend $160 get 6,400 bonus points
The triple bonus offer on fruit & veg + meat (saw it on the receipt, first time I knew about it)
Liquorland - Spend $20+, get 1K bonus points
FirstChoice - spend $99+ using Click & Collect, get 2K bonus points

Still waiting on the bonus points to come in from First Choice Direct and Liqourland Direct - haven't taken up many of their offers, so are they normally credited at the end of the T&C period (6-8 weeks?)
