For those who have been comped status

That's disappointing :(

Thanks blackcat20. Normally I would just expect it but given the recent Parental announcement I would have thought there was room for consideration, especially as my profile would show I had to cancel the flights that would get me the status.

Boo. My pleas for clemency to Red Roo failed. A bit irked. Might chuck the silver card in the bin and keep using the nicer one.

Contacting Red Roo would be the sign of desparation. Sorry to read of this tragic state of affairs you find yourself in.;)

Err... With Cathay there would have been little issues with granting the "holiday"

Maybe QF will eventually react to the competition?

Happy wandering

Your health is more important than some silly airline status. No?

yes, but Qantas risked nothing by comping me, did they?
Although if they said yes, it would be almost like opening a floodgate of requests for whatever reasons others can come up with - I can book a few flights, cancel them, then say that my cat died and need to be at its funeral plus go on mourning for 2 months. Of course, nowhere near the severity of a medical issue, but if I hear that someone gets comp'ed by asking for it, I might try my luck too.

Having said that, I believe your reason is legit and it was worth putting your case forward, just that they've decided to draw the line on the other side.

Sure there's hardly any risk for them. For some reason Qantas wants to be in control and not give in to everyone who begs for a status comp. Some of those may come back to AFF and gloat about it and then everyone wants/expects a status comp.

Agreed. But I did have the flights actually booked and paid for to get the credits in time. So all round I reckon there were a few considerations to be had.

I dont see it as opening the floodgates at all. Each case on its merits. We know they give them to people randomly, so why not when there are circumstances.

I could provide medical certificates that confirm I cant fly (but will be by end of May).

I know and agree with you but you are trying to convince the wrong person.

What? Doesnt Q KWYA? After all this time.

I'm over it. Just disappointed in lack of response. At least I will be back come January. Might try Virgin for a bit!

I think you'll be disappointed if you do. The ADL lounge is a shoebox and the airline partnerships are at best flaky with the exception of NZ who really treat VA status passengers well.

Hmmm - massive swell of all status levels by giving every silver gold, and every gold platinum just through their regular travel (double SCs for a whole year), parental breaks allowed. But valid medical reason? Might be pushing it

That's unfortunate Pushka. You sort of know the soft landing is coming but hope that a comp will be provided. When the package arrives or the FF webpage displays it just confirms it. :(

As mentioned you will only be disappointed further by trying Virgin.

I am feeling a bit nervous after reading your comments and Princess F! Taking my first ever Virgin flight on Saturday - mainly because Qantas cancelled the flght I was on and I didn't feel like staying in Sydney another night (only other available flight with Qantas was hours earlier and I couldn't make it). I figure Virgin can't be that different to Qantas on a short hop like that and I won't have any lounge access, so that solves that problem!

Best of luck FM, I think you might be disappointed though. Lounge access aside there is at times night and day between the service on each of them although if it's SYD-CBR I doubt you will notice.
