A bit late I know, but my sign up bonus was 2500 pts = 1250 Velocity points. Still, 1250 Free Velocity points is 1250 Free Velocity points, ain't complaining.

As I don't gamble, looking forward to buying cheap VA points via idle account targeted top up bonuses

Just received this from Crown. Wish I'd held off on the transfer. Oh well, can't win them all.

Your CrownBet Rewards Points now take you even further because you'll receive 15% bonus Velocity Points on all Points transfers for the month of April!*^

Your redemption options are endless with Velocity! You can redeem your Velocity Points for flights to over 600 destinations worldwide, hotel stays, car hire, gift cards and more.

Hurry, this bonus offer is for April only and will end Sunday 30th April 2017

I signed up last week - but my points didn't arrive:(

When the 15% bonus email arrived I thought that I had better follow it up, so rang Crown Bet and had the points in my account in under 45 seconds.

Transferred straight away to my VFF account and will keep an eye on when they show up (along with the 15% bonus).

Thanks for the heads up and chance at extra points. Just joined and waiting on points.

Still trying to decide between a $50 crown restaurant gift card and the velocity points (my free 5,000 finally arrived). The question is, how much will a $50 voucher cover at the crown.... not much, methinks.

It took about five minutes for me this morning - but as a few people have mentioned it's only 2,500 points now.
I didn't get the 12.5% offer, and doing the transfer it's just 2:1. 1250 velocity points is worth around $10 - marginal for ten minutes work.

i signed up the weekend before last, but the points did arrive immedialy. I sort of forgot about it during the week, so chased them up last weekend for the points. It was sorted very quickly.
Did the transfer on the weekend, and today I have the points as well as the bonus 15%, so not too bad, considering I had only 9000 points in the Velocity, it was a good easy bonus..

Mine only came in today or yesterday, so give them a few days if not immediate.
Put me over 30k VA points so I'm fairly happy.

Additional promotion they are currently doing may be of interest to anyone who enjoys the occasional bet. Bet min $20 on the head to head market in a nominated AFL game each week and get 100 crown pts (convert to 50 VFF pts) for every point your team wins by. There is an approx 5% edge built into these markets so for a $20 bet you're looking at approx $1 expected loss. I suspect the average winning margin in these games will be high enough to easily cover this $1 expected cost.

Ive put $100 into my account to play this promotion. First bet this week is $20 on Sydney against Collingwood at a price of 1.28. Here's hoping for a thrashing! :D

How'd that work out for you?

They dont all win. That's why it's gambling. Commenting on one result is not exactly significant. Long term this will be a winner. Will be more than happy to back up again next round.

As of last week you were looking at an expected loss of 5% over time.

Now you're still looking at an expected loss of 5% over time, but you're $20 poorer. The "long term" as defined statistically is not readily accessible to us mere mortals.

But the thing with points for margins *is* interesting. Pity scores aren't as big as they were in the old days.

What do you define as the old days? The mean winning margin in AFL games is consistently around the 35pt mark, median is a few points less. Either way it's more than high enough to make these very cheap points.

Return can always be higher or lower than expected so I may win and may lose but either way it is a very good play. The main stumbling block will be the certainty that CrownBet will ban me from taking these promotions over time. On past experience I would expect to get 10 or so games in before they give me the flick.

Crown do not care whether you win or lose. They will not ban you from taking these promotions. The more of them you take up the happier they will be. It is all about turnover and as far as they are concerned their promotion has worked on you.

I think encouraging people to gamble to win points is quite reckless. No one comes out a winner by gambling, as you witnessed yourself last Friday night.

This is not true at all. Corporate bookmakers (as CrownBet are) can and do ban or restrict customers all the time when they deem them not to be profitable. It's a well known practice. I have been banned from taking these sorts of promotions with another well known bookmaker. Try putting some money in and ONLY betting on these sorts of promotions. I guarantee you will be stopped from doing so before too long.

This is not true either. Plenty of people come out ahead from gambling which is why companies like this end up banning them. It is all about expectation and the expectation is that over time the value of points won is going to be more than the dollars lost.

Many people would also say that encouraging people to open credit cards to gain points is also reckless as it potentially exposes people to debt problems so I wouldn't get on your high horse on a forum like this. I appreciate that gambling is not everyone's cup of tea and in that case you are free to choose to ignore my advice.

This is absolutely spot on. Bookmakers also have no hesitation restricting bet stakes or even closing accounts of successful punters. As for those who clearly have a problem, they're happy to bank as much profit as possible. It is not a good industry at all - a little surprised to see VFF jump in bed with Crown.
