Have those who missed out tried emailing the Topbonus contact centre?

You can try sending an email to [email protected] - say that you registered last month for the "Starthilfe" promotion for Xing members, and you're waiting to receive confirmation of your 4 month trial of Silver status.

Thanks for that but had already emailed the service team and received a generated reply asking me to ring them in Germany if it was urgent

Applied 21st Nov 2016. Got Classic Red card in 3 weeks but nothing more.

Have just sent an e-mail. Got the automated response. I will see what I get in the next few days.

None of three accounts I applied for for family, late November, got the free status.

Haven't got the upgrade either... maybe they've cottoned onto all the new members outside of Europe . Had a return flight to Melbourne on Friday that I could have used it for and a return flight to Sydney in 3wks...

Hi,
I've registered for the 4 month trial on 17/11/16 and still NOTHING.
I've contacted Airberlin topbonus few days ago inquiring what is going on and .... NOTHING
Their other promotions like 5x points for purchases at Heinnemann Duty Free also did NOTHING i.e. 1x points credited.
Will see if they reply

welcome to AFF Tad. good luck with AirBerlin

Did it when this thread was first posted. All worked fine. Had no need for it until today when most seats in the cabin were blocked so I used airberlin status and I could select all. Saved a call to CX. Thanks.

Worth a try. Thanks. Red card arrived fairly quickly.

Yep. Looks like I'll be traveling on Qantas tomorrow without the silver card. Fast check in through the business desk would have been nice at this time of year.

The silver jump start is a voluntarily offered service, which is only offered to customers who live in Germany, Austria, Swiss or USA.

In your topbonus account is no company e-mail address.
However, a corporate e-mail is a prerequisite for this action. Additional changes to the e-mail address are not accepted.
Your request for the silver upgrade can not be confirmed, as not all required conditions for this action have been fulfilled. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us."

Well that is disappointing, but thanks for posting.

For what it's worth, there was certainly no requirement in the original T&Cs that you had to live in one of those countries and myself and various others have been able to use this promotion successfully. It sounds like they're making up the rules as they go.

Looking closer at this, I wonder if the fact that this hit the major US blogs on 20 November has anything to do with Airberlin not honouring the offer. I see that View From The Wing promoted this on 20 November. Interestingly, they have credited my post in this forum as their source. Shortly after, the offer was picked up by a whole bunch of other blogs (which credited View From The Wing). Hmm. :-|

When you say "used airberlin status" what do you mean? You logged in to airberlin and managed your CX booking there?

Got the same e-mail today. Sounds like some of us may have been a day or 2 too late before they decided enough was too many.

I read Airberlin reply as the promotion applying to two options (Either/or) or perhaps two requirements (and):
1."The silver jump start is a voluntarily offered service, which is only offered to customers who live in Germany, Austria, Swiss or USA" - only 4 lucky countries
2."However, a corporate e-mail is a prerequisite for this action. Additional changes to the e-mail address are not accepted." - requiring corporate email in topbonus account (?)

Should have registered with my work email address - that of a large German multi-national... (and just for extra points my division is based in Switzerland)
