General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

Yes he works for Google in SFO. They are a good company and really look after their people. I am not sure he is suffering from “burn out” as much as just missing the people interaction of being in an office. He is probably missing all the dogs - you are allowed to bring a dog to work and he was able to get doggie interaction without owning one :)

He is lucky that he has a partner (who also works for Google), so he has companionship, but apparently a lot of the software developers are wfh and on their own and I think that would be very hard.

I think it's the in person interaction people miss most; that's certainly what Mrs FB has indicated. Apparently spending 100% of your time with @Flashback doesn't cut the mustard 😬

I see this morning AF has joined a half dozen or so other airlines that have announced no-fly bans on anyone with a temperature of 38C or above.

I must stop visiting news sites, stuff like this is doing my head in! Makes me think even less of us as a society.

There may have been other factors involved with this one, but even so, spitting on someone is a despicable act.

Yes you do. Remember that the media has no interest whatsoever in all the good things that people are doing right now.

I'm venturing out for the first time in 2 months, today on an essential trip. I'm passing through London Victoria station. Wish me luck!

Coronavirus: Our loony protesters are among the looniest

Around 100 assembled in Melbourne and less in Sydney. Not big numbers but what they lacked in people power they more than made up for in lip-quivering paranoia.

It was proof that our crackpots are just as deluded, just as bonce-scratchingly demented, just as howl at the moon crazy as you’ll find anywhere in the world.

And what’s more, save the military hardware, our local fruitcakes have shown they can give the Americans a run for the money.

...

Never Trump Republican, David Frum, the man who coined the Bushian phrase, ‘the axis of evil’, watched our boys and girls gather and trash-tweeted, “Shouldn’t Australian “anti-globalists” invent their own domestic lunatic theories, rather than importing cheap foreign-made lunatic theories from the United States?”

As if the Americans have a monopoly on crazy. Frum, the self-appointed leader of the terminally Trump deranged is not even American. He’s a Canadian. From Canadia.

...

In Melbourne, the high point of the afternoon was the sonorous chant of “Arrest Bill Gates” who wasn’t in Melbourne at the time.

Look, if Bill Gates is to be incarcerated it should be for Windows 8. I still remember having to load 21 disks to upgrade to Windows 95. That took several hours. Lock him up. Lock him up.

Google the title to see if it pops up. A good read to lighten your day.

There was a demo on SA on the steps of Parliament house last week too. There were 20 people and they were spaced out. The Police arrived and told them they were still breaking social distancing by being in a group larger than 10 so they just packed up and left. 😂

Cleaner wants to start back up. We have agreed the 5th June - by that time we should be able to see how easing the restrictions is going in terms of new cases. Do feel a little concerned but on the other hand we do have to return to normal......

By early June you will know for sure so don't worry about any of that for a few more weeks.

So, they hadn’t heard of two groups of 10 each? 😉

Ive left the house 3 time, all for Chiro appointment. Oh, and one Chemist Warehouse drive through pickup so 4 times - since March 17

I really wonder how Im suppose to go back to work - we were asked the other day when this is all over (ish), would we like to continue working from home and I said at least 3 days per week.

But Hubby went scuba diving today with friends! Hes a happy man as they are Shire locals and have kept diving the past few weeks
